Boston
After last weeks terrible troubles in Boston the Vancover Modern Quilt Guild has come up with this way of showing that others care, instead of the hearts that were made for Christchurch, NZ - which we have adopted here on TQS for our friends in need of a hug, which we are unable to deliver in person. They are suggesting bunting that can be hung up in Boston in a couple of months time or so....

My only problem is that I keep wanting to put a tea cup or tea-pot on my flag (in heart decorated fabric) - there is nothing so reviving as a nice cup of tea after a nasty shock, but I am not sure how that would go down :?

Limbania, it was a historical revolt against a tax on tea imported from England: http://www.bostonteapartyship.com/the-tea-act

I actually did drink tea in Boston (more than once) and ate very tasty blueberry cheesecake (more than once) about 11 years ago. And then there was the lobster, the very interesting JFK museum, the tempting shops, the lighthouse, the amazing people........... Anybody knows the winning lottery numbers for next week? I'd relocate to Boston like a flash, and then get myself two little vacation bungalows - one in Vermont (within walking distance of the delightful little library in and one on Cape Cod (as close as possible to Nauset Light).

Lorchen, if you get to Vermont, please let me know. I know a few fabric/quilter's shoppes there. But they're not much for tea - the US folks seem to do coffee mostly. We ordered tea in Georgia once and got Iced Tea! Same in Vermont. When I go to the US, I often bring my own tea bags and just ask for hot water.
Boston? The only city I've been lost in TWICE, trying to negotiate my way from one side through to the other side.

There are still some tea drinkers in the USA. DH and I have Earl Grey (the Queen's tea) every morning and brewed - not from tea bags. But who knows what they drink in Boston these days as I have not been there for many years even though it is one of my favorite places in the US. Being a history buff, you can not really beat Boston. One of my favorite memories is drinking wine and having clam chowder at a bar in Boston followed by the best cheesecake I have ever had. Wish I still could indulge in that much food at one sitting but as I get older the stomach gets smaller. Too bad the rest of the body hasn't figured it out. LOL
But all fun aside, I am praying for the people in Boston who were affected by this horrendous event and hope that they will find peace in their hearts even while this violence continues around the world. Hugs, ann
