Looks like you've got this subject covered without me this time  The chap in the american film seemd to describe it pretty well, including the necessity of the pub for refreshment  DH knows more about this subject than me, but then he has done stage crewing at the Sidmouth Folk Festival in the distant past - it is the premier folk festival in UK to the best of my understanding.

I do remember in '76, when it was the hottest summer ever that at Girl Guide(Scout) camp we made up our own version of morris dancing but instead of using hankies we used wet tea towels - a great way to cool off

Small world, Wendy! Please, tell your friend that I thought their dancing was amazing and very uplifting. I also (and I was not the only one) that I looooved their costumes - so much beautiful patchwork and applique.

Today was more serious: The actual AGM. I also managed to go to a couple of lectures. No names here because I found them both a bit long-winded - heavy on ego-stroking and low on content. Some more tomorrow, then the taking down of all the quilts (I'll share some pictures next weekend). After tomorrow you won't hear from me for a few days because I won't access the internet till I'm back from Scotland.

Ah, Rosemary, the scorching hot summer of '76...... I fell in love with my ex-husband. If I would have waited till my brain cooled down I might still be in Germany today and not have my handsome sons and gorgeous granddaughter. Life is so full of curved balls!

I can only do a couple of the basic steps Wendy. I like the West Kerry set dancing and having been swung around the floor by a couple of burly Kerrymen I can tell you that it is very fast and you need your health to do it. I was completely puffed after about 3 minutes!

'Clerical error' are pretty scary with Draig Coch(The Red Dragon of Wales) and their blacked out faces but they are great fun to watch.
