Happy Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving Eve, I attended a Thanksgiving service at Ely Cathedral. (Actually sang in the choir at this church dating from the 600's! Awesome!!!) It was a wonderful event with Airmen from RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath and many people from the surrounding communities. After the service we shared pie and hot chocolate with all. It's a tradition in this part of England that has been going on for many years.

Lorna I am so glad that you were able to celebrate Thanksgiving so far from home. For those of you in USA, Lorna is living in a part of UK where all the American airbases are so that would be why there is a tradition there, which we don't have in the rest of the country. I always thought that Thanksgiving was purely an American tradition dating back to the First settlers. I read on Wikipaedia yesterday that in fact the british settlers took our Harvest Festival celebrations (thanks to God that all the crops are gathered in) which we don't have a specific date for, but is generally celebrated in schools and churches sometime in October, and then added in the rest of the 'be thankful' part. I really wish we did that last part too :-)
In leafy Berkshire, south of England.
