Keeping "hand-made" alive in the time of globalization!

I get a weaving email periodically and they did a piece on the Polish hand-made lace of old. It seems, like many hand-crafted genres, it was dying out and they needed a new vision.

The younger lace makers decided to market lace "delicates" to the tourists. See this web site, although a bit skimpy on the clothes, so don't be shocked! Hey, girls, (and guys) we can look at the art without looking at the bodies, right? ha ha

For a bit more history, see this link:

I think it's delightful to find a new use for our talents and gifts. Now, .....what size would I order? tee hee

Simply gorgeous! But I have to pass...... at 59 and a XXXXL size I need my lingerie and clothes to be a little more 'substantial'.

Whe it comes to keeping traditional crafts alive..... anything goes, as far as I am concerned. Thanks for sharing this, Lynn. When will we see pictures of you in your very own itsy-bitsy Polish lace camisol??

A-hemmmmm. Don't think I'll be wearing one any time soon.

Reminds me of daughter's home crocheted bikini (for husband's eyes only) and when she showed it to my other daughter's hubby, he wanted one for the sister (his wife) too! Other daughter laughed, scowled, and said "No Way!" And that was the end of that!

Hmmm, while I love crochet with fine threads, I would never be seen in any of them. Some bodies just look better with clothes on. LOL.

i think they'd be fine under clothes but here in the US that first bottom would need a little something to be used as a bathing suit. BTW, I never looked like that  :!:
