Hi Sue, I drew a 1/4 inch seam line to mark my 1/4 inch seams, after starching the fabric..
So, I followed the lines I drew. However, since some of my stitching is in the middle of the line (the thickness of the drawn line with fabric pencil) and others were on the edge, that teeny bit made the difference. So I think I'd better stick to my old faithful and just trust my 1/4 inch foot and my eyeball. I think I was trying to get too stressed and fussy on being exact (when I drew the line, I don't usually do that.
I'm gonna try one at the 123% that originates from the CD. I've done # 1 -2 - 3. However # 4 is a basket, (if I remember correctly) and I tend to ahem...' strongly dislike' basket blocks and quilts, I might do it at the end.

Well..I haven't made any of these blocks yet....but I know that a "scant" 1/4 in. is prob'ly
necessary.....my own rule is to measure, measure, and check again !! I know that the single
rows/units have to finish at 6 1/2 inches. Cutting pieces from templates does add that
obnoxious pencil line ! And when printing the they need to measure correctly....# 1 is a 2 1/2 in.
square ...if it doesn't measure that , then you need to check the printer settings. No
scaleing and print to actual size setting. The % on the PDF shouldn't matter...maybe yours is different, though.
I s'pose that's clear as mud !

Marilyn - so you mean that when the block is finished (ie. into the quilt with other blocks all around,) that it measures 6 1/2? The ones I made were less than 6 1/2 inches unfinished. (not yet put together with any other blocks)
Thanks for the tip about the #1 block being 2 1/2 inches. That certainly will help me scale/not scale things.
At least I've only made three - maybe I could make a mug rug out of them LOL!

How insensitive can I beops:
ops: assuming that everyone has EQ. Sorry. I guess the block could be printed, cut up, and the outside quarter inch seams added, but I haven't really studied more blocks to know if this is possible. I'm going to take the book to bed for some night time reading to see if I can stick my foot deeper in my mouth.

Terrie, if your pdf is showing 123% it could be that that is just refering to the scale that your monitor is showing you and does not refer to the scale that your printer is using which can be entirely different. Also if you carry on making them as you have started they will all come up a smidge small and therefore should all fit together at the end - providing you use the same size 'smidge'
