    Fabric Bleeding

I have a customer who prewashed all of the fabrics in her quilt. She made the quilt and washed the whole thing in cold water on delicate and the red ran into one of the white/toilish fabrics. None of the other fabrics, including other whites, were affected at all. In fact the bleed was perfectly spread throughout, it actually looks as if a pink fabric was used. It is very odd. Any ideas on how this affected only the one fabric and any ideas for removing the color? Thanks a bunch.

Since the fabric was washed and dried I would say no. But I am willing to bet someone on this forum will come up with a wonderful idea so don't lose hope!

Been there, done that!! Try to wash it again with one of those "color catcher sheets". Sometimes that gets the bleeding out.

I just watched a video on a product called Grandma's Secret Spot Remover.

        http://grandmassecretspotremover.com/

The owner specifically said that it is successful at removing bleeding on quilts that have been through the dryer. It's worth a shot.

        Here's the video:

I'll have to try some of that. I have had the same problem with a prewashed red that ran later. Thanks for the tip.

I'm with Damaris, Shout Color Catcher sheets would be a big help. Paula Reid, http://www.battsintheattic.com/ told my guild about them. She's a believer. She also has some helpful tips on her site.

A tip from Juanita Swarts: Apply straight Wisk liquid detergent to the affected area and wash again. (Hope this helps! Judy in Torrance)
