What is a silimar (sylamar) (cilamar)

I keep hearing Alex and others talk about silamars (sp?) and I don't have a clue what they are - or even how to spell it to look it up. Can someone enlighten me please?

I think it might be Asilomar you are hearing. It is a big quilting occasion I think. Here is a link which might be the answer.

I don't live in The States so maybe someone else will have a better reply.

I have gone five or six times. And I live in Michigan! Found out about it several years back while visiting my brother and his family in Oakland, CA. Just received my brochure for 2010, and I simply can't decide who to study with. My usual dilemma! It's five days of quilting heaven, right on the water at Monterrey, next to Pebble Beach golf course (not that you'd have time for THAT!). Well, you simply MUST check it out. Empty Spools Seminars at Asilomar.

Well, that sounds like something I'll have to check out! Thanks so much for the information! I was thinking it was a combination of syllabus and seminar!

I am going in August for the first time with 3 of my friends. Two of us are taking Suzanne Marshall's Wacky Birds hand applique project. I can't wait. I grew up in CA and am looking forward to seeing the ocean once again. It is awfully hot and dry here in the desert. Judy in AZ
