    Genie bobbin washer?

I was watching a Sharon Schaumber free video and she mentioned a genie magic bobbin washer and a halo and I was wondering if anyone had tried either one of her products? Thanks, Elizabeth(who is getting in over her head....lol)

hi elizabeth, I have tried both products..
first, I can't say I've noticed anything different with the bobbin washers. I started using superior's bottomline thread at the same time, but everything seems to be going smoothly, I do alot of machine quilting.
second, the halo...I really like it. It takes a little getting used to, at first I kept bumping into it with my free-motion foot. for me, it's like a couple extra fingers on each hand. I don't consider myself a "tense" quilter, but I see a definite improvement in my work and much less fatigue.

I'm not so much a gadjet junkie anymore, but I think ms schaumber is awesome and try most of her recomendations..
    lori.

I was wondering the same thing. Like does the washer work in all bobbin cases?? I have a Viking the bobbin case doesn't have at post in the middle and it is plastic, not metal.
I also thought the halo might be a nice. I have the horse shoe shaped gripper that came with my machine, but I don't like it because it takes up too much of my limited space.

        THanks Elizabeth,
I think am going to get the Halo. Do you also have the slider sheet that goes on the machine bed??? I wory about the sticky residue on the machine. I also love Sharon's videos. She comes up with such great ides. I have been using her piecelique method to sew the curves on fan blocks. So much easier than pins. All the blocks were glued together while watching tv and now I just have to sew them. Cheryl

I think it is like a filter for lint. It is like a washer you put at the end of your water facet...round with a hole in the middle and you put it in before the bobbin. I don't know what it is made of. (Nor do I really know what I am talking about...hehe). Elizabeth

the bobbin washer is just a small teflon disc that slips into the bobbin case before the bobbin. it's to reduce friction and help prevent thread nests under your quilt.

and yes, I use the super slider under my quilt...there is no residue. it adheres by friction only...remember the colorforms when you were a kid?

I use the bobbin washer, the halo, and the slider, and find they make the free-motion work go much more smoothly. It really is a help to have the right tool for the job.

I tbasically stabilizes ur quilting field by helping it "grip" the fabric and gives u a place to hold on to it to control ur area.
