Hi, I have done about 3 rows, hand piecing the whole thing using black and white and red here and there. I work on it now and then and have been at it for 3 years or so. It was recommended to me to the outside border pieces as you go along with the other blocks or else you will be overwhelmed. Judy in AZ

Hi, I do 3 blocks and then do 1 border triangle, so for each row I have the 13 blocks and 4 triangles made. I am half way done putting row 1(A) to row 2(B). and have 8 triangles done. I was going to put the triangles together, except I really have to wait and see how my fabrics hold out. I am doing it all by hand piecing and hand applique. I do this as something to have to take along or do when I am tired of doing other hand work. Margarita in Auburn, CA

I have my picture of Rows A and B and the border triangles that I have so far. After putting them on the design wall, I know that the outside triangles are going to be the background fabric. So I can start putting part of the border together too. I will be posting a picture on Show and Tell, what are you working on, and doing a blog with the picture too.

I haven't purchased any fabric yet because I don't know how much to get. I have decided to make the background white. Hubby wants me to use various black fabrics for the rest so blacks it may be. Although, I started thinking that sticking a small amount of red in the mix every now and then might be kind of fun and make it more interesting.
You know the blocks are very small.......just perfect to sneak in without your dear hubby recognizing it. And you can say -- "WHAT, these old blocks???? I've been working on these for years!
I'd love to have a buddy that starts with me if you do decide to go for it. Although, I don't want an angry hubby looking for me either.

Amoret, sometimes I do fuzzy cut the pieces, as some of the pieces are so small that if you want to have some colors in it you do have to fuzzy cut. Other times you just have to pick the colors you want for a specific section of the quilt. (so far very little unused fabric on the project) Margarita in Auburn, CA

JoJo, "Rainbow Jane" is quite a quilt, you have to decide what fabrics you want to use and start. (By the way some of the fabric requirements in the book or CD are really short. Especially background fabric if doing by hand. ops: I can't remember what I finally got and I went out and got a few more later. Now I am glad I did since I am using the background for the outside triangles on the quilt. Let us know what you decide, and keep up posted on your progress. Margarita in Auburn, CA

Thanks for letting me know that the fabric requirements isn't as bad as I've heard. As soon as the book arrives, I will go fabric hunting. I'm afraid to go inside a fabric store until the book comes for fear of seeing something I like and not knowing how much to purchase.

I am SO bad. I just received Carol Doak's starter kit. I'm taking a class with her in November in NJ. I can't believe this. I'm going to have to prioritize better.
