Have you heard about the Davy Crockett quilt project?

Check out this interesting bit of quilting history and US history! I think it is a fascinating project!
    Lynn

    Quote from the web page:

"Scraps of Life explores the life of Elizabeth Patton Crockett, wife of Alamo Hero David “Davy” Crockett. The book is a historical look at Elizabeth Patton Crockett's life and a step-by-step guide to creating her quilt.
Discover the beauty of Elizabeth's quilt through a complete look at her quilt top, block by block. Examine over 100 scraps of pre-Civil War material in the Antique Fabrics Gallery.

In this First-of-a-Kind historical quilt book, feel the presence of time, life and love in each page through a comprehensive look at quilt making as you have never experienced it before!

Scraps of Life includes complete instructions for making a Postage Stamp Quilt on Point in modern-day fashion. The easy step-by-step quilting instructions enable even the beginner to complete their own family heirloom.

    About the Book
Elizabeth Patton Crockett’s story begins with her father, Robert Patton, providing wagons and supplies during the American Revolution to the Overmountain Men on their way to the Battle of Kings Mountain. The book contains numerous photos and illustrations of battle scenes and everyday life of the time period.

As Scraps of Life moves you through the beautiful blocks and antique fabric galleries of Elizabeth’s Original Quilt Top, you catch glimpses of the joys of frontier life and the sorrows and hardships that followed the deaths of each of her husbands.

Elizabeth’s story ends with her own death, after a morning walk on January 31, 1860, in Acton, Texas.

The Scraps of Life includes complete instructions for making her 1850s Postage Stamp Quilt on Point, family genealogy and descendant photos of the Pattons, Patton-Crocketts and Crockett-Finleys.

Not as complicated as DJ quilt, but lots of little tiny pieces!

Very interesting. All I need is another project to do but I bet the book is very interesting to read. And them being from Tennessee makes it even more interesting.

Does anyone own this book? Has anyone made this quilt?
I am curious about the genealogy aspect of it. :?: :?: :?: Does it tell a lot about their day to day lives?

My great great Grandmother was also an Elizabeth Patton who lived in Dandridge, Tennessee for a period of time. Maybe she was a relative...
