Hi Wanda, no question is stupid and yours is probably one that no one thinks to explain.
Dear Jane is a specific quilt. Brenda Pappadakis published a book called Dear Jane. This quilt was re-drawn block by block by Brenda and they are odd size block with Triangle border blocks.
You can see all the information on the book and the quilt as this link
    http://www.dearjane.com/
Once you see the quilt you will know that you can change the colors but the blocks are definitely Dear Jane.

Hope this helps answer your question. Joany

        Hi everyone, Happy New Year!
Does anyone know when Quiltin' Heaven is sending the Dear Jane January Kit? We got our mail today, and still no kit. Well back to my Blooming Nine Patch made with Kaffe Fassett fabrics.
Side question, I have not been able to get to the TQS web site for a couple of days, anyone else have problems?
        See you later,
        Happy Quilting,

I purposely came to the forums to check on this. I'm soooo anxious to get my kit for January!

I sort of hoped it would be in the Jan 2 mail but not yet.

So yes, I'm in the Stitchin Heaven group, too.

It is reproduction fabrics... for whoever asked.

I have the software and book. I loaded the software but that is all. There is a journal there? Yippee!!

I joined a yahoo DJ Retreats or such b/c someone here mentioned their excel chart for keeping track of what you have done. I couldn't get interested in the group so have it on no mail for now. They do way more than just the original DJ quilt. That is all I'm in for for now.

I plan on paper piecing as many blocks as I can and I'll see what happens w/ the appliqued blocks.

For now, I've been trying to finish some other projects so I have room for the 3 (or 4 if I do TQS BOM this year) BOMs on for starting this month.

Hi Joyce, Let me know how you end up liking that software. I pulled my bin that has all my Dear Jane stuff in it and I am preparing to start making blocks this weekend.

I suppose I should print one out and see how it all works before my package arrives.

I'm heading down to quilt... twill see what the day brings.

I went to the Stitchin Heaven website and clicked on, Block of the Month, link. Then on the calendar. It says the kits were to be mailed on Jan. 3

Yippee! So maybe Monday would be a good day for them to arrive in Illinois.

We don't get mail until mid-afternoon.

You are all so smart. Who would think of checking at the Stitchin' Heaven! Our quilt show is March 2-3, so I am trying to get my things ready. Pictures need to be in with the registration Jan. 10th... NEXT WEEK. But if DJ comes, I will stop long enough to make one or two blocks... one day's worth. When I made my 6 text blocks (see my profile), I found I could get two in one day except for the blue curvey one (can't remember the name) that took me one day and the gold curvey one (took me two days). Each block presents its challenge... this should be fun.
See you all when the mail comes.

OK, I took the plunge and ordered the DJ book and BOM from Stitchin' Heaven. I'm on the waiting list for the BOM...wonder what that means! Well, hopfully they will email me on Monday.

I've done business with Quilting Heaven for a long time and it's a great shop. If you have any questions, they're wonderful about helping. I'm in another BOM with them right now. I've been working on Dear Jane for about two years now on my own or I would have signed up at Stitchin Heaven. I just have too much Civil War repro fabric to justify it! I really need to use it up. Have any of you seen Dana Lynch's Dear Jane quilt in her profile? It's gorgeous. I think her screen name is DLQuilter. P. S. check out her Rhapsody quilt!

Thanks so much Judy and Wanda for the comments. Dear Jane was a wonderful quilt to make and I'll cherish it always. Collecting the fabrics was the most fun part to me. I tried to match them the best that I could. I have saved most of them. If any of you come across a block and have trouble finding a good match for it, send me an email and I'll see if I have it. I'd love to share any that I have with you. Just let me know. mailto[email protected]

Hope all of you enjoy making yours as much as I did. And do remember, keep a journal of some kind. DJ is the first quilt that I really took time to do that. My journal is about 2 inches thick and contains so many memories, and experiences of making certain blocks, and a one inch sample of every fabric. I would have forgotten so many little things about it, but when I look at that journal, it seems like yesterday.....and it's been ten years. I can't wait to see some little DJ blocks.

Thank you for all the encouragement Dana.

I received my Dear Jane #1 today. Yipee, the fabrics are just perfect. One thing that surprised me is that there are different types of beige back ground fabric. I was really thinking the background would be muslin like fabric.

Can't wait to have time to sit and work on my new project. I am looking forward to sharing this journey with all you you 2008 Janiacs.

I got my #1 pkg today, too! Yeah!!

I skimmed through the info and am surprised she paper pieces on freezer paper. Anyone else do this? Does it come off? I usually have run tracing paper through my printer.

I love the fabrics! I was surprised by more of a print for background. I hope it stays the same all through the quilt. I like the print. All the fabrics are gorgeous!

I have one block to go in pp my BOM from last year at the LQS. Good timing!
