Aileen, I love your colors. Very spring and happy. I just drew out 8 blocks to work on during our road trip. Gotta do something besides snoozing for 14 hours each way. Hubby is a him drive only kind of guy.
Will post pictures when I have something. Does anyone want in process pictures? I love seeing them, but won't force them on anyone. Clara

Layer fabric or clothing that has already been soaked in a soda ash solution, with 2-3 inches of ice on top and then sprinkle with dye powder (CAREFUL!!! Use mask always with dye powder. It's mega fine and easy to breathe in!!!) Cover or seal and leave for 12-24 hours in warm environment. Wash multiple times with Synthropol. As the ice melts it takes random samples of the dye down to the fabric. Don't plan the effect only the colors you want.Originally posted by ReetzbobeetzClara what is 'ice dyeing'? And how do you do it? I have been doing some dying too but that looks like something I could try. Love in-progress photos too, please.

The first time we are all thumbs and going slower and careful. Actually the setup to finish time is so much faster than mixing and applying solutions of dye. I use 2.5 gallon bags to hold about a two yards of fabric in. When you do your ice and powders just close and go to the next. When all done they are easy to move out in the sun and transport to your rince area. And reausable!!! Have fun. ClaraOriginally posted by ReetzbobeetzThanks Clara. I will have to try this.

I just found out about this challenge through my member blog. I've been making AAQI quilts for a few years...can't remember when I started, but my first was #1244 so that was a while ago. My latest on the web site is #10059 which hasn't sold yet...they put an $80 price tag on it, so no wonder. Maybe it will go to Houston. Several of mine sold there last fall. I've sold $751.11 so far for 14 quilts. I love making them. I got my daughter hooked a year and a half ago when she was out of work for 10 weeks with a broken ankle. She has made over 40 of them and has topped $1000.
I am going to register my latest two and am working on another. I'll let you know their numbers when I get them.
