they're all beautiful - can't wait to get to bid for one or two ...
finally did my WotRott reels yesterday and tonight - still working on a get-well quilt for a friend - was washed this weekend - now i found that there was one more panel that hadn't been written in waterproof markers... luckily i'd outlined the lighthouse with my quilting - so that'll be easy to fill in - but will have to get the message and signatures again from my colleagues in our hamburg office. also found that i'll have to do quite a bit more quilting - but am getting there...
once this done - time to finish up my strippers and hst quilts - everything has to be done by early march as i'll be travelling for work (with a 2-week visit with my parents and family in canada over easter) from mid march to end april - only on-the-go stuff doable then

So, what are you going to be doing this weekend. We are going to be welcoming our nephew to our home. He will be living with us for a while. He is 18 and lived with us for over 3 years a few years back.
Quilting might just become a stress reliever for me. What other ways besides pure enjoyment does quilting do for you?
I got an idea for a Alzheimer's: Priority Quilt. How about a reel block? I understand there is a big exchange going on.
Happy quilting. ClaraLotti, Kuessnacht - Switzerland

Clara, it sounds like you are going to need to have a lot of quilt-therapy in the next while. I have a 17 year old daughter and I find quilting is the best escape from the drama of her everyday life!
I have another suggestion and I don't know if anybody thinks this is a good one or not so I throw it open to the floor - how about we do some letters, as in the alphabet. Here are some photos of letters I did when I got my machine first and I just wanted to try out the FMQ on it. I used a sheet of grease-proof paper as a template, drew the letter - I wasn't worried about it being perfect - drew a couple of lines around it making sure that they were straight and then stitched on top of the paper. I used a Superior Highlights thread (Rainbow thread for the 'P')which is lovely for FMQ. Once I had the letter and the lines around it stitched I tore off the paper and began filling in with whatever took my fancy. I used left-over pieces of a practice quilt sandwich and left-over binding too. Each one is only about 5x6 1/2".
As for what I will be doing this weekend, well this evening I am doing taxi service for my daughter who has gone to a party. Tomorrow I will probably quilt in between taking my two children various places for their very active social lives and on Sunday my son is having an end of Chinese New Year party for a few of his friends. He has purchased all sorts of Chinese goodies for them to try and we will round it off with lighting paper lanterns which will hopefully fly away in the evening sky.

love the alphabet-quilts rita - what a great idea - and your FMQ is looking good.
i plan to do some chinese signs for peace, health, happiness, etc. have to get the correct signs from my chinese colleagues - but still have time as i won't be able e to do these till i'm visiting my parents over easter - my easter project.
this weekend - lay off the sewing machine, practically no reading, i should stay away from the pc too
hit a patch of salted ice on a marble pathway yesterday: slippery mess - result: back of my head ended up where my feet were a split second earlier - now i'm sticking to a mostly horizontal position with concussion - yeahhhhhh great way to spend the weekend - but i'll certainly have time to catch up on sleep - if i could sleep (that's why i'm here - just 5 minutes - i promise)...
have a great weekend everyone - enjoy

Hi Clara -
I had planned a wholecloth quilting marathon for this weekend, along with dog sitting for my friend's dogs and watching a Kansas University basketball game and the Super Bowl. But the Colorado weather might have put a little damper on the quilting. We're having a big snow storm here so I'll end up doing a bunch of snow shovelling. I just finished my first shovelling stint and will get whatever new snow we get overnight and also do the rest of the driveway tomorrow. It should only take a couple of hours to finish up, but it leaves me pretty tired so I might end up doing some piecing this weekend rather than working on the wholecloth so I don't screw that up. But we need the snow, so it's good that we're getting some! We've probably gotten a bit over 3 feet at my house so far. They don't expect much more in Denver overnight, but it's hard to say what that means in the mountains where I live.
Rita - I love your letters and your quilting is wonderful! I think letters are a great idea for the Alzheimer's quilts since people could get them as monograms.
Lotti - Sorry to hear about your fall! Take care of yourself over the weekend and hopefully you'll be fit as a fiddle next week!!

Nancy, that is really hard work, I don't envy you. We had a very bad snowfall here last winter and we couldn't get out of our driveway for several days. The kids were really pleased as it coincided with school days! Take care of your back won't you? We have had the first snowfall on the mountains here yesterday but nothing for us yet. Hope it stays that way. Temperature was -4ºC this morning which is very cold for us. I hope Lance and the cats give you some peace to piece.

Hi Clara: I just mailed my quilt to AAQI The number assigned to the quilt is 9371. This is the 9th quilt I made this year for AAQI. I try to do at least one a month! My 2 yr old grandson named it Birdie.
I tried thread painting. Never tried this before. Not great but I have to start somewhere!
