Judith, it's lovely! Beautiful colours, beautiful shape and the border is really nice! It almost looks like flowers in a wreath.

Finally got borders finished. I was determined to use the "scraps" left from cutting the strata - had to add in some additional fabric but happy with how it came out. Still need to figure out what to use for backing.

I see at least six fabrics with dots, I bet Alex Anderson would like that!

This is my second quilt, fun process. I let my husband pick out strata fabric for my 3rd kaleidoscope, will see how that goes..!

Not sure I like it but it's finished and ready to quilt. Need to stop and do a commision quilt so we'll see how it goes after that. Don't like the center at all but could be the size.

I love how you have used strata slices in the border! Very cool approach.

I attempted to do the borders that Ricky showed but I didn't have enough strata left over, so I was going to use one fabric for the borders. I don't like wasting fabric so decided to sew together all my left overs to make a bag or something but after I started making strips, I put them up on the wall with my Kaleidoscope and decided I liked it. But I had to make some more strata to make enough to cover all four sides along with adding pieces here and there. And now, it's done and I like it. I try to make every scrap feel wanted. It was a fun project, thanks again.

I finished my Kool Kaleidoscope and named it "Magic Mirror" because it reminds me of Romper Room! This wasn't and easy project for me and I realized just how "angle challenged" I am. It isn't something that I was comfortable doing, but I am pleased with the way it looks hanging on the wall. Thanks for the interesting class!

The scallop border frames your kaleidoscope beautifully.

Kaleidoscope top now sewn including borders. Am happy with how it came out! Now to get creative with rulerwork templates and do the quilting. Was quite an experience choosing the fabric and designing it, thanks to Rickys guidance.

Not Sewn together yet. Think the pieced border is a bit wide, maybe 1.5 inches finished size. Not enough matching black fabric for a second border but feel it needs a dark second border. Bind in black.
                      Any suggestions?
Hope I put this in the correct place--computer challenged.

Love the applique you've used in the wedgies and butts. It's hard to tell from the photo how the smaller pieced border would look at finished size with a wider dark background around it, but if you lay it out with the larger dark border around it and think it's too wide, at least you can just trim it down. I also wonder if the applique might benefit from a dark inner border to give it some breathing room, then the colorful pieced strip? Not too sure though. Beautiful quilt regardless!

Heather, your appliqué really adds another dimension to the kaleidoscope

Here is my kadeidoscope quilt top, pinned to my design wall. I didn’t like it until I saw all the pieces together. It seemed so impossible that all these different fabrics would look good jammed together. The fabrics that I thought would look worse actually meld together quite well. Now I just must re-listen to Ricky’s third lesson on how to sew these parts together. I am so excited to see how this will change the look of the quilt top.
