    points

    I am making a quilt with 12 in. blocks. each block consists of different shapes. more triangles than anything else. but their are also odd shapes. but when i sew them together to make the block some of the points get put in the seam. has
    anyone got any suggestions what i am doing wrong. ty.

    Just takes practice - and dozens of pins.

      Check your seam allowances. Make sure they're 1/4 inch.

        Check the accuracy of your cutting AND your seam allowance.
        Also, when you are sewing and get to the area of the point, you can slow down, and make sure the needle is not going into the point. I thought I just saw some suggestions on one of the shows, but I don't remember which one. (I rarely watch the shows as soon as they come out, and I'm always going back and watching the old shows... so I don't keep track of the tips I see from Ricky and Alex.)

          As you sew through the points, make sure that:

          1. The seam allowances on the points are pressed open so that you can clearly see that intersection.

          2. You sew one needle's width away from the point.

          And, of course, like everyone else says, PIN.

          That should do it.
