My sewing stuff and fabric is so scattered that I can't find ANYTHING!!!!
I sew in my dining room, but there is no room to keep fabric in there except that fabric that I'm using for the quilt I am currently working on.
So I store it in the basement in plastic drawer sets. Those work fine, except that for years, when I had company (high school grad parties, holidays, etc.), I would clean up my dining room by moving everything to the basement "for now." Well, after the event, it looked so nice and neat in the dining room that I would start a new project, and soon...same mess, and the old mess is still lumped together in the basement.
A couple of years ago, I bought an entire quilt's worth of this great Laurel Burch fabric for a baby quilt for my nephew's next baby (at that point, yet to be conceived). Well, she's now pregnant, and I can't find that *%^&*(#! fabric ANYWHERE!!! Arrrggghhhh!!!!!

I'm now the Membership person for my guild and the job comes with a laptop computer. So now I need to clean off my roll top desk so I have a place to keep the computer. DH volunteered to move the database to our desktop but when I told him I was planning on cleaning off the desk to have the laptop easily available, he took back his offer (just kidding, he said that would be a good idea). May start on that tomorrow.

I'm working on a paper piecing project now, and I find, not just thread, but teeny tiny pieces of paper which i rip off the back of the blocks, and tiny scraps of fabric which I trim away. I have finally decided to just let them fall where they may and clean them up all at once at the end. So I now sew in a puddle of paper and fabric trimmings and wonder what it looks like to others...

I could never sew in the dinning room and have to move it every time we had to eat. I now have a room this is one room my sweet husband can not tell me to clean but it is to small now and the only way to move in to a bigger room one of the kids have to move out and that is not in anyones plans they like living rent free and no bills

After spending 2 days searching for a pattern and templates that I knew I had and COULD NOT find, it became clear that my "system" was not working. Patterns, templates, fabric, etc. were put in a basket for a project that I might get to someday. When that project fell lower on the to-do list, things were taken out for other, newer, more interesting projects. One basket actually only had a piece of paper with the name of the project--everything else had been removed!
Solution--reorganize and put like things together. What a unique idea! Today I worked on templates and everything else is in piles everywhere. What I found out is that I have way too many templates, and I'm not willing go get rid of any of them. Someday they will be just what I need and then where would I be!
It will take quite a bit of time to get this all straightened out, but then maybe locating things I know I have will be easier and I can get on with quilting.
Marge, peeking out from stacks of patterns, fabric, etc.

Oh Marge, I feel your pain!
I spent most of last week looking high & low for some yoyo makers I bought a while back. Looked EVERYWHERE. Guess where I finally found them? In the drawer where I THOUGHT I'd put 'em, and where I'd already looked at least twice. They were hiding under some finished applique blocks, the little rascals.
Only plus to this event was, in order to search the small-and-largely-inaccessible closet in the sewing room, I had to empty the closet out...now it's all put back so tidy I won't be able to find ANYTHING!

I have a hard enough time keeping my sewing room clean and sure didn't need what I found today. I haven't been in it for awhile as I am recovering from a total knee replacement and my knee swells too much. Today I decided I would go in and see what I wanted to work on next. My sewing room has quite a few windows with blinds and with these nice sunny days those pesky little ladybugs are back. They love the windows and hide in the blinds and any crevice they can find. On one of our cooler nights all the ladybugs kicked the bucket!! Only problem now is I have to get someone to sweep them up. Is amazing how many show up each year. We were told they were brought in to TN to eat some sort of aphid but I sure wish they would fly away, fly away HOME!!
