I was once given the directions to make a quillow but I seem to have lost them! Can anyone help me?

Quillows work best with a soft batting like wool or polydown, I made one once with cotton and ended up with a very solid pillow.

The quillows I've made for a charity project at church are a double layer of fleece with no battiing.
            They've turned out quite nice.

I made one ages ago and it turned out quite nice. But I don't quite remember how the pocket was made, and of course, lost the paper!

For the pocket, I've just made another little "quilt" that is put together where you layer the batting, then two pieces of fabric right sides together and sew around the edges leaving an opening for turning. Turn it and sew it on 3 sides, in the middle of one side of your quilt. The opening of the pocket should point towards the center of the quilt. You can then fold up the quilt behind the pocket and then fold the pocket over the quilt to get your quillow.

I know it's difficult to "see" something like this in words, but hopefully it will help.

I have made some quillows that were "quilt as you go" patterns. Then I wrote out the instructions for some of my friends. If you would like a copy of my instructions, e mail me through my profile and I will arrange to send them. Hope I can be of help. Hugs, Ann (the absent quilter lately)

Thank you Ann! I would so much appreciate your instructions! I've been searching the internet for quillows, but haven't found anything useful yet. I've sent you an email already, hope you get it!

Would Quilters Dream Puff batting work for quillows? I don't like it in quilts.

I used cotton batting in my quillows but the person who demonstrated them first in our quilt group used a polyester batting. When you do the "quilt as you go" method that I did a higher loft batting (rather than the cotton I used) should work fine. Eileen, let me know if you would like my instruction sheet for the quillow. I dug out this site that I think will be helpful for your project. I haven't made a quillow....yet...but the directions are very clear. Hope this helps. Nancygail
