    Bottom Line bobbin problems

I have a viking SE. I am having trouble filling my bobbins with Bottom Line Thread. It winds loose and loopy. I have not had this problem before. I am winding it at half speed. I do that with all of my threads because it winds very fast.

    Thank you. All suggestions welcome.

I don't know how the Viking is constructed, but this must be a tension problem. Check that the Bottom Line thread is not slipping out of the tension thing when you are winding the bobbin. I know on my Bernina 440 I have to keep an eye on the tension place because the thread can work itself out of it.
    I hope this helps.

One of the ways to wind the bobbin is to leave the machine threaded as is for stitching. I have never done this, I just use the option of using the top of the machine. I am going to try this. I know it is not the thread, so it must be operator error. LOL

Donna can I suggest that you try winding it at high speed? Bottom Line thread is very springy and it might need the high speed to do the job. Also, do you hold onto the thread as it begins to wind having threaded it through one of the holes on the bobbin?

I have a Viking--not that model--and I let my bobbin wind at full speed and I use only bottom line in my bobbin. Hope this helps. Oh, you might use a folded dollar bill and run it through the tension to see if there is any thread caught there that might cause the thread to not engage properly. Just a thought.

No prob with my Viking....make sure you threading pattern is correct....that would cause irregular
            winding.....speed shouldn't be a problem...clear poly/nylon can stretch , get too tight and break a bobbin
if wound on too fast...maybe Bottom line, too.

I think I got it. I wound it through the needle and it seems to be fine. I wasted a whole day yesterday trying to figure it out. Also wasted about half of spool of thread. Like I said. Operator error. Thank you for your help. I love this web site. I have learned so much.

When I have a bobbin error, I use that bobbin as a top thread or for hand sewing. Can't afford to throw that thread out. Betty D
