I realize I am a thread snob also. Superior has improved my piecing along with these wonderful shows from TQS

Good thread does make a difference. I really like Superior and Aurifil. Both are amazing threads.

I've become a thread snob too and especially a fan of Superior Threads. They really put out high quality and it is consistent from batch to batch. I think they hands down make the best metallic thread and I think I've tried them all. I even run their metallics in my long arm (as well as free motion with it) and I don't slow it down for them. Other metallic brands I have to really slow the machine down or the thread breaks. I just don't bother to buy any other brand unless i'm stuck and can't wait the maybe two days it takes for them to shop it.

I do quite a bit of art quilting and their silk and funky fat thick threads are awesome too. I also use different weights to get different effects.

Just make sure you are comparing apples and apples.
You might be comparing a 40 weight thread to a 50 weight thread and they are noticeably different thicknesses when you hold them up.

I am eyeballing the aurifill 12 weight for some bobbin work though.. it looks pretty yummy. So while I"m a Superior Girl, I do stray once in a while for my art wall quilt.
