Good job, Marilyn! I think my list of UFOs would match yours! I'm trying to finish one up right now and hope to have it done by the end of the weekend. I just realized mine could be considered a 4th of July quilt, too, so I guess it's the right time of year!! Your quilts are wonderful!

I have an idea. Get ALL your UFO's out from the shelves, find some quilting friends (or not?) and make an exchange with them.

Well, after thinking about that I'm sure that there are a few that you really won't hand over because you really like them. Then you just make them and give all the others away. Get the idea?

I think it is Cindy Needham who said that life is too short to look back. She learned what she needed from them and she will not waste her energy on them now. Sorry if it was another who said it. My suggestion is: let another learn from them now.

How about swap a UFO with a quilting friend under the banner 'I'll finish yours, if you'll finish mine' and then at the end you can compare them both and decide who gets to keep which?

Just counted up I have only 1 BTQS quilting project to finish, but at least 6 PTQS quilting projects (I am not even going to try and count non-quilting projects  )

My problem is that I love all of my UFOs. They aren't put aside because I don't like them, but because I have so many quilts I want to make and not enough time to make them! I won't give numbers. ops:

   It would probably hum along quite nicely while you are piecing and quilting but would probably have a nervous breakdown if you decided to use the embroidery or computer modules!

When I said that I only had two UFOs... I should clarify. Two UFOs that I am prepared to finish. What has held me back with those was my inability to quilt them by hand (takes too long, painful wrist because of arthritis) and then my limited ability to machine quilt (which I am working on!)
There are other projects which I will call 'hDips'! (Hideous deplorable idiotic projects). These are the ones that should be repurposed or sent off to the fabric recycling plant. I do have a couple of those and I will never finish them because they just didn't work, and they made me cross :x Why do I still have them hanging about - my inability to let even a scrap of fabric go without trying to use it in some way. But I think it would be healthier to send them on to somebody else who might use the fabric in a different way that I would never think of.

Well, lets see, then, how the embroidery module and computer software might get along with Rita... If they don't like it, they can always try running away from home!

Last week, at my kitty's wellness exam, I handed over to my vet a nicely sized practice quilt I had made, nothing I really wanted to keep but the materials were good and the piece was large enough to put in the container they keep pets in when hospitalized. They were so happy because pets are so scared when they come in for an extended stay or even just overnight and to be either wrapped in or lay on such a soft, warm blanket does make a difference. They often use towels but don't have many of those either because they rely on donations, but the vet really liked the practice quilt and the fact that it can be put in the washer and dryer makes it reusable. You might find a good home for your unfinished pieces as long as the size is large enough to fit in the bottom of a cage and the edges are bound with an overlock stitch or large enough to wrap a larger dog who is ill is okay too... and you would not even have to do a complete finishing of the UFO. Just a thought...

Ok..so here's another one finished this month. Some out there will recognize Leah Days' Free Motion Quilt-a-long
from earlier is spring. I learned lots about the methods and about my machine. And a lot of respect for all
that fill quilting done on some of the big show quilts! Must say that the 3 Ps apply....Practice, Practice
and MORE Practice ! Come to think of it, perhaps there is a purpose in the UFO...the pressure is off and
I'm not so anxious over the thing after I've put it down for a while.

Marilyn - I recognized it immediately! You did a beautiful job!! I know what you mean about the fill. Last year I made a 58" square wholecloth and did some really tight McTavishing in one area. I think it took a full month of doing nothing else in my spare time to get that done!

Marilyn, I recognize it too! It is truly lovely and it sounds to me you really enjoyed doing this one! It also does not look like a UFO since I see binding on there!!!
