Sharon Schamber's Video for Designing Quilting

Okay, this is an awesome video, and I just wanted to share with you what I did today. I'm only about halfway done, lots of erasures going on, but it is so liberating and fun! Sorta Zen! It is very hard to get a picture, because a flash is right into the mirrors, and without the flash it is dark, so forgive the photo quality. I'll work on that next time, when I am further along. It would help if we had had some sun today!

Beautifully done, Dawn! It will be interesting to see what fabrics and threads you choose to stitch it out!

REALLY NICE! Have you figured out how to transfer the design to freezer paper? That's the one thing I don't get.

Yeah, I'm not remembering that part very well, either. I know there were a couple of places where she lost me. Obviously I will be watching the video a couple more times! For right now, I will just focus on the designing. I'm thinking I might put some applique in my open/blank areas. The whole designing process is fun, because you just never know where it will lead you!

And, thank you all, for your wonderful comments! It's easy to do things you enjoy, huh!?

Your design is so beautiful, Dawn. Thank you for sharing. I think I will have a go at drawing a design although I would never be able to stitch it out and I ought to be practising my FMQ instead :P
I love your idea of putting some appliqué into the open spaces.

I just watched parts of of the video again and she does not describe or demonstrate how to get the pattern from your enlarged image to freezer paper? Does anybody know how this is done? And presumably the freezer paper has to be joined together because the image is bigger than the width the freezer paper comes in. And also, if you iron the freezer paper to the wrong side of your fabric will it show up enough to copy it to the right side of the fabric? I guess it would if you had an enormous and powerful lightbox. But if your fabric is not light and white then it would be very tricky..

At minute 10, Ricky demonstrates how to use freezer paper tape to make a large piece of freezer paper!

Thanks Margo...but what about getting the image from the photocopy to the freezer paper? Is it another lightbox job?
