Thread breaking when pulling knot through

    Hi,
Here's a problem I sometimes have when I'm hand quilting. When I get to the end of the thread I make the knot and
when I try to pull it through the thread breaks and I'm stuck with and end that has no knot. Do other quilters out
there have this problem or a better question is, what am I doing wrong.

I had that problem frequently when I hand quilted. The problem often stems from thread that is cut for too long and we tend to quilt without moving the thread through the needle to different spots when we quilt.
    Fixes:
    1) thread heaven to lubricate the thread
    2) cut thread no more than 18 - 24" & thread multiple needles
    3) make sure you're moving the needle along the thread frequently as you're quilting
    4) knot sooner rather than later.

All of the suggestions in in the previous post will help....but I try to adjust the size of the knot to the weave of the fabric.
One less wrap on the knot might be all it takes...or two? Works for me.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them all.

I know I'm guilty of the too long thread issue cause I always want more than is wise. Saves time, you know. Ha! Not as much as the time it takes to undo stitches, redo a knot, etc. when I break it!

Also, if you somehow stitch through your thread--I have a friend who does that when she stab stitches--it will weaken the thread and cause breaking. I think it happens most with using too long a thread--all the in and out and pulling.
