That's on my list of things to try, but I think it's considerably more expensive than just mixing up Sta-Flo.

I seldom use starch but when I do it's Mary Ellen's Best Press. I started using that some last year. I prefer to use piecing techniques that don't require the use of starch such as making blocks oversized then squaring them up or my preferred paper piecing technique. I've learned to be very careful when pressing bias edges so they don't stretch.

Just like Bettyann I use Niagra spray starch original. It makes for precise cutting and piecing it's not expensive and I don't have to mix anything up.

I've been using this stuff for several months now. I really like it! It seems expensive, but it doesn't take much of a spritz to do the job. I like to use it for getting those end-of-bolt creases out of fabric too. I saw a huge refill bottle of it at a good price yesterday. Might have to go back and buy it.

I like the different scents. Too bad there isn't a Pine Wreath scent!

I never used to starch my fabric at all, but a number of people started to reccomend it, so I tried it, and I won't cut out fabric for a quilt with out starching my fabric first. I will even starch any scraps I have before I cut them out to use in a quilt, especially if they aren't going to be cut on the straight of grain.

I love Mary Ellens Best Press Starch Alternative. I have been using it for some time now. I buy the refill gallon size, and just refill my spray bottle when it runs low. The gallon sized is priced to where it's like getting two 16oz. spray bottles for free... and you don't need to buy a new spray bottle every time you run out. (I'm on my second, or is it third, gallon, and still using the first spray bottle I purchased, so the trigger handles last quite a while on these bottles. I hate the cheap ones you can purchase and they stop working after awhile). I also like the different smells, and they also have one that is unscented if you don't want any smell in your fabric.

I use the Best Press also. The one thing I do is dilute the bottle with water, 50/50. The product still works great and lasts twice as long. Bobbi

I love the smell of Mary Ellen's Best Press, but I did not feel it made the fabrics stiff enough for my taste. I usually use Magic Spray Sizing.

I agree with Beth - I prefer Magic Spray Sizing. Mary Ellen's Best Press doesn't make the fabric stiff enough for me. Mary

Me, too! I like my fabric as stiff as a sheet of paper, and the Sta-Flo does that for me with one application.
