    What to do with triangles?

I have quite a few Triangles from a quilt that I decided not to make. They are yellow and blue of various shades. These are our school colors. Anyway I would really prefer not to throw them away. I would also like to get them out of the way. Any ideas most of them are 3 1/2'' when squared or slightly larger. They were made just after my accident. So I had to trim them down to straighten them out. This is one of the reasons why the original quilt wasn't finished. Rachel

Did you read the blog about decopageing (sp) blocks on plain bags to make gift bags? That's what I plan to do in the future with some "spare parts." Also, they might be just the thing for a border around a quilt (take a look at the red/white border around TQS BOM). Good luck!

Go to http://www.quiltville.com. She has great patterns for scrappy quilts. Check out the Maverick Stars pattern. It calls for triangles. Don't bother trimming them up.
I found that website referenced here some where. I love her scrappy quilts. I always felt bad tossing out little scraps but didn't really know what to do with them. Now I have a bin to store them in until I have enough to tackle either Maverick Stars or another of her scrappy patterns.

I have a wonderful young friend (11yrs old) who recently emailed a drawing she did that I want to make into either a miniature quilt, postcard or small tote. I'm going to fill in with leftover half square triangles.

Check out my profile - the Stars Ablazin quilt and pillows were done using cut off triangle scraps left over after making the double star border for the quilt itself. The center of the quilt originally was called to be a large print fabric - no peicing - but when I layed it out it just looked wrong (I think because I increased the pattern to fit a queen bed) Luckily I am a pack rat and I saved all the triangles I cut off when I made the flying geese units that make up the stars, so I had hundreds of triangles to play with. I sorted them by color and then just started laying them out on the back of a flannel table cloth in the star shape until I had the star I wanted to fit the quilt center. I sewed the triangles together into squares, then figured out what size the squares need to be to make the star fit and sqaured them all up (ok that was tedious, lol) and then sewed the whole thing together. It was a lot of fun to do and really it was not that hard to do. The table cloth was especially handy because I could roll it up and set it aside when I was not peicing so I did not lose my layout.

Good luck and let us know what you do 8)
