    flower power table topper

I layered 5 fabrics, put black on top. used Harley(my millie) to create the flowers and swirls. background quilting is swirls. then cut out the different layers to expose. just threw it in the wash to fray the edges, then I'll bind. had a blast with this! :cheer:

I guess it's about 20" wide by WOF. there's no batting, just a muslin back, 5 layers, then the black on top. I realized later, that I could've left the edges where I cut out a bit longer, then they would've frayed more. or, I could've gone back afterward with a decorative stitch and tacked one layer down and that section would've had a second color framing the color behind it. oh well, guess I have to make another one!

Love it! I made a pillow top using a similar technique last year. I gave the finished pillow to my daughter since the colors went with her couch. I left each layer a little longer than the one above it. It is a fun technique and the fabric does fray like a rag quilt.

Thanks for sharing great pictures of your table topper. It is great and does remind me of the "flower power" era! Love the colors and movement the fabrics provide. Also seems like you had a lot of fun making it.

I agree. It looks like a fun technique.

Oh my! It looks wonderful. Would you mind If I try to make something like that (with my own patterns, of course)?
