    stable stuff

Margo, thanks for the great video. If there was a warning, I missed it. I thought it would be easier to trace the freezer paper onto the Stable Stuff if I ironed it down first. Big mistake, it doesn't peel off. I find myself doing a little more cutting. I thought i would give a word of warning to others who haven't used Stable Stuff before. Also, the packaged sheets worked fine, since I already had them on hand.

Did you know that Stable Stuff can go through a printer? I have printed out the patterns for some paper piecing and it works great. No need to rip out the paper if I do not want to. Which reminds me, it is time to order some more because my supply is running low. Love it for raw edge applique as a base, for paper piecing and any other time I need a stabilizer that will disappear when washed. Hugs, Ann

Ricky's Stable stuff is a product I keep on hand at all times. I printed a line drawing on Stable stuff, ironed it to the back side of my fabric, put Razzle Dazzle in the bobbin and Bottom Line on top. All that was left to do was sew following the printed lines. What could be easier. The quilt is shown in my profile. It is the last one entered on the bottom row. I won a "Best Machine Work" ribbon at our local show with a similar one made with copper colored Razzle Dazzle. Betty Ann

i use ricky's stable stuff for my on-the-go-hexie project.
i downloaded some 3/4 inch hexagon design sheets and just print those on the stable stuff...
cut them out in front of the tv... glue the hexies onto 1 1/2 inch fabric squares - cut off the extra corners to make them easier to fold
add another dab of glue (generally use an el-cheapo glue stick) and iron down the sides
all in-front-of-the-tv stuff so i have a tupperware of cut hexie stable-stuff-papers, a tupperware full of ironed hexies and then i use hairclips to clip the 7 needed for each flower together, drop them into a zip-lock baggie to grab a bunch to take with me on the next trip...
as each flower takes just under an hour - i figure about an hour with sewing flower and adding it to the previously sewn flower... i don't need huge amounts to take with me on each trip...
if anyone's interested in my hexie-project, i'll write a separate blog with pictures...
