Margo,
Thank you for this great video. I'm used to appliqué with turned edges, but in a different way (one of the other 10 methods!), and I think I will try yours. I don't know if I will use it on this project, as I wanted to try the raw edge method also... Ahhh! what to do? :?
And thanks for the last tip, we don't own a pool, but I will buy one of these pool noodles!

Jan, in March we made the side units (8-1/2" x 16-1/2")and corner units (8-1/2" x 8-1/2").Originally posted by JANBLOCKWhy do we need another piece of background fabric for the applique's when we already did one that size in March?
This month we are cutting background fabrics 16-1/2" x 16-1/2" for the four large applique motifs in the center of the quilt.

Margo you have REALLY outdone yourself on the video this month! OMG, almost an hour of fabulous instruction!!! I'm starting to feel guilty about taking up so much of your free time... I purchased an hour-long applique video for $25 last year at Paducah, so that means that my "Margo tab" must be up to about $100! Would you believe me if I told you that "the check's in the mail"?!

Absolutely! It is one of the many "other" ways to do applique! Here are a couple of videos that explain the process.
Please let us know if you try it and what you think of the process!

I especially like the way Annie demonstrates top-stitching the "cleavage" of her heart by dropping the feed dogs!

Charlottes Fusible Thread...now I'm really excited! The person demonstrating didn't mention the stabilizer. It looked to me like it was a non-fusible vilene, or fabric style stabilizer. My only concern is that the holes will be seen under the blanket stitch, but we don't have any batiks with the kit, so maybe that won't be an issue.

I've just sent an inquiry to Bob Purcell about the stabilizer and will let you know what I hear back.Originally posted by suehenyonCharlottes Fusible Thread...now I'm really excited! Susan, if you try this could you do a sample and wash it then let us know if the holes are visible and if the edges fray after washing???

I sure will. Given my arthritic thumbs and the way I handle scissors, I may just say "good enough".Originally posted by Margoif you try this could you do a sample and wash it then let us know if the holes are visible and if the edges fray after washing???
I looked into getting the Quilter's Preview Paper locally...not available. It's $10.00 from Handiquilter, and $10.00 shipping. I think I'm going to try my giant sized tracing paper that I've had for years if it's not dry-rotted.
Margo, I love the colors in your video. I can't wait to see the variety in Show and Tell.

Thank you for the wonderful info re Charlotte's Fusible Web Margo. I was wondering whilst watching the video, is there any reason why you couldn't run a thin line of Elmer's School glue around the edge and fuse the fabric that way instead of using either the paper backed fusible or the Charlotte's Fusible web?Gail, Far North Queensland, Australia
