Carol, you need to complete a total of 36 arc units for this month. Sixteen of the completed arcs will be set aside to be used in Month 4 on the four central applique blocks where we are instructed how to use Sue and Pat's technique for raw edge applique.Originally posted by CZALONMargo,
Thanks for the video on paper piecing the arcs while not sewing into the paper. The arcs came out great and sewing them to the center was easy (once the pinning was completed). I now have pinned 12 arcs to the two types of light turquoise shapes and then pin 8 final arcs and I am done for this month. I enjoy paper piecing arcs and find the results satisfying. Looking ahead to next month, I can see I have a lot more arcs to do.

I tried with the pins and without. I was just nipping the point on a couple so, when I trimmed the next arcs, I cut just outside the black cutting line. I'm now sewing without pinning...4 stitches at a time and realigning the edges, per the video. I use sharp tweezers to hold the bottom layer in place so it doesn't get stretched. Very slowly, but still faster and more accurate than my pinning. I'm using a quarter inch foot and scant at that, since we are squaring up. This isn't as bad as I expected

I am glad it's working for you too Susan. I found I got the pieces done very quickly without pinning - not that it's a race, but it did mean I had time to do lots of other things this month. I am looking forward to seeing the instructions for the applique. But I am thinking of coming up with my own design for these centre pieces...maybe.

Elisa Wilson has video's on http://www.backporchdesign.com
She shows how to do drunkards path....... I have done this and found it easy, I made a lap quilt using her method but I'm sure it is similar to lots of other methods.
