Marking Tool for holes in template?
What machine washable marker can be used for mark the fabric through the holes in the template? I successfully completed a sample set of triangles with the strip in the middle but the permanent marker dots show.
Thanks,
Carol :? :?

Because we are instructed to prewash and STARCH our fabric, you will probably be safe using a regular pencil to mark the dots.
Mark with the lightest mark that you can see on the back of the fabric. Those marks will wash out with the starch when the finished quilt is laundered.

Carol, I have no idea when, but the lady who runs the TQS Shoppe is still sick with the flu, and she needs to cut extra fabric for 150 kits. She will get it out ASAP. ARJJ will make this right, but it may take a little time. Thank you for your patience.

I have identified two products that mark real well for this application. They are the General's Pastel Chalk and the Sewline Fabric Pencil. I like the Sewline Fabric Pencil best because it is very precise. Unfortunately, I cut the turquoise fabric at the wrong angle for part of the strips and have been able to complete only 3 1/2 of the small sashings and am awaiting more material to continue. The technique itself uses fabric very economically.

Hi Beth,
That's what I am doing. i am working on a quilt for my granddaughter and using the technique for the first time of xeroxing a design on the Ricky Tims stable stuff, attaching backing to it and stitching the design to the back of the border of the quilt. The designs are bears and cats. I stitched using water soluble thread and will embroider the design on the front tomorrow. I really like stitching out the cats and bears. The panda bear will require lots of stitching to color it in. I tried on a sample. It is very cute but feels like cardboard. I think I will use a fairly dense grid. That will be less dense and I think it will still look like a panda.
