Margo I ended up doing scrappy because I couldn't decide if I wanted another colour with the reds. I knew I didn't want red and white because of that very issue. It looks a bit like the image they always show for cinema film tape!
Connie, it was that exhibition in the Armory (which I would have loved to see in person) that made me want to do a red and white quilt!
Thanks for the encouragement everybody. DH just walked into my sewing room and his immediate reaction was to smile say that he thought it worked really well as a framework. I guess I will keep plodding on for a little longer.
Susan, you would think as a singer that I would listen to music while I sew - but I like the silence. Audio books are a different kettle of fish though. I am actually really enjoying Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at the moment, but never thought to listen to it while I sew. Duh! Thanks for the suggestion it's a great one.

I've been happily listening for a couple of years, mostly from downloaded books from the library, but I got sooo tired of not finding what I wanted. I found Audible extremely easy to use. I put the books on a very little Ipod-mini (I think). It travels from room to room. Audible offers up sales and specials frequently enough that I've never been without a stockpile, but not too much.Originally posted by loise98" happy to go off topic" Me too! "Audible.com eh?" One of the first books I listened to, while quilting, was 2001 Space Odyssey. It was awesome.
We could probably start a whole thread on this, but I'm chicken.

I love audio books when I'm quilting. I generally use either an old iPod or my phone. With a good quality set of earplugs ( not the uncomfortable iPod ones), the iPod is in my pocket and easily goes with me from sewing machine to ironing board, or even for a grocery shopping break
. And the quilting goes quick. The first audio book I listened to was the davinci code... Kept me going through a transcontinental flight and a few days after I got home... I started doing all kinds of chores while I was finishing that book... Even cleaning windows - of course that was before I discovered quilting as my main passion! (Now the windows have no chance)
Love how the red-white quilt is coming along. Persevere, it's definitely worth it!Lotti, Kuessnacht - Switzerland

Rita, I really like your progress. Keep going, the Month 2 sashing looks great. I have to agree with you that it really takes a lot of time. Still working on mine but only about halfway done. My DH is not home this evening, which means I don't have to make dinner. Yippee (I love cooking, but really enjoy a break.) I will be working on my sashing. Will post picture soon.

Ladies, my 3 favorite audiobooks of all time are The Guernsey Literary and Pototo Peel Pie Society, The Secret Life of Bees, and The Help. It's not just enough that the book is good; it's the performance that makes all the difference. These three are top notch! Does anyone have additional audiobook recommendations? I'm leaving on a 3 week journey by car next Monday, and I would love to download some entertainment before then! (Hoping to have February's BOM work done by then, too! )
