It is not transparent but it does hold a crease.

Well of course I HAD to go watch again to see your manicure. That is so clever tricky of you. It looks beautiful! I'll have to remember that if I ever need to not have my usual gnarly hands. I enjoyed the video but that's a given. Thanks!Lyndhurst, Ohio USA - East Side Suburb of Cleveland, Ohio

Deb Karasik has an amazing paper pieced quilt on the cover of the latest Quilters Newsletter. She uses a transparent paper made of 100 percent cotton for her paper piecing which you will find on her website, http://www.debkarasik.com. It's more expensive than the Office Depot vellum though, so I haven't ordered any yet.
Margo, your first video instructions are very informative. You put a lot of time and thought into it. I'm sure the rest will be as well. I too had to take a second look at the fingernails. I will have to get some of those if I ever decide to do a video.

Annis,
I had to laugh when I read your post about the Quilters Newsletter, because today a friend of mine brought me a bag of old (ok they are from the 70's) Quilters Newsletter Magazines and as I was looking through them we were wondering if the Magazine was still available. I am having so much fun just looking through them. She also gave me a lot of the paper wrappers that were around the Mountain Mist FULL Quilt Size Needle Easy "Glazene" All Cotton Filling (in other words "batting"). Each one has patterns on the back side and designs to use to quilt the finished quilt. It says you can buy patterns for $0.20 (YUP that's 20 cents) and they are on sale cause regularly the price was a whooping 35 cents.
I am having so much fun looking through these. A step back in time.

Part 2 of Margo's paper piecing video is available now, and once again, Margo has done a fantastic job! (I could only get to it through my TQS email newsletter.). It is very detailed, with all the info needed for paper piecing success. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a "Margo video" is worth a million! TQS needs to make it easier to find, though. I would suggest putting a link at the location where you download the January pattern.

Margo has a classroom on the site. I imagine it will be there. I just checked and the first one is there already. First, things usually appear in the newsletter, then a little while later on the Daily Blogg, and I am sure the rest of the videos in this series will find their way to Margo's Classroom as well. This is great! Thanks, thanks, thanks, Margo & TQS!!!

Just watch Margo's second video, GREAT information.
When I receive my fabric, I will follow these instructions. However, I will not tear away the paper and KEEP the foundation until I assemble the sashing with the blocks: since the raw edges are following the width of the fabric, I'm affraid it might give a bit of ease.
Thanks again!

If you don't especially like the Add A Quarter ruler method, there will be 2 more videos posted soon with different techniques.
And you can always go back to the original version in the BOM instructions!!

What a great tutorial. Margo does it again. One thing that I do when working with templates that are mirror imaged is to mark the template with a "R" so that I know which side to use as a mirror image. I never tried tearing out the paper the way that you did Margo but will definitely be trying it. Looks like it would take care of those pesky little bits at the tips. Great job, Margo.
