Dec 20

I just couldn't resist posting. Considering that Friday, Dec. 20 the world is supposed to end  (Myan calendar prediction), should we ask TQS whether we can get the instructions posted on Thursday instead of Friday ?

I should be ashamed but really couldn't resist poking fun.

My anniversary is Friday, December 21st and I refuse to let the Mayans interfere with that date. I think I will wait until the 22nd to fabric shop!

Just FYI....the yardage list that was posted with the newsletter on Tuesday, Dec 18, 2012 is incorrect.
I will post a note here when the corrected list is available.
(The updated list will have only 4 solid fabrics listed....not 6. There should be a total of 12 fabrics listed....not 14.)

Margo, I decided to open my kit after your post. I only received 11 different fabrics. All of the prints are there, but only 3 solids.
I wonder which one I'm missing?

Susan, I'm not sure but I think there should be:
2-1/2 yards Light Turquoise,
2-1/2 yards Dark Turquoise,
1-1/4 yards Orange and
3/4 yard Green

If you are missing one of those, you need to contact the TQS Shoppe through the "Contact Us" link under the DAILY BLOG tab on the purple bar.

Well it's good that it's considerably less than last years BOM which was something like 23 yards of fabric I seem to recall.

As for the end of the world, I heard on the news that one of the former Soviet countries (sorry can't remember which one it was) is selling out of candles because of the fear of the end of the world on December 21st. A former president commented by saying that they were wasting their money because if the end of the world came they would not be able to light them! We also have a bet in one of the bookies here with a 5000 to 1 on the end of the world. Now how the heck would you collect that one if you won :?:

the way i look at it is that the world won't go kabloooie !!! and everything is gone...
i figure it's more in the line of "the end of the world as we know it" - i.e. major catastrophies / whatever bombs / etc. so that we'll end up with only a tiny percentage of survivors - practically no fuel - no power - limited food - probably very limited potable water...
so: with
- a cellar full of wine
- a reasonable amount of dried goods in my kitchen
- a closet full of candles (& lots of matches)
- a room full of fabrics & threads
- loads of needles, scissors, cuttin mats & rulers and a serious number of replacement blades for my rotary cutters
- my grandmother's old treadle machine
- a room full of books

i'm all set!
and people will be looking for blankets and stuff to keep them warm - so i should be able to trade quilts for food for quite some time!

enjoy the "end of the world" everyone :P :P :P

MY main problem is that - once we find that the world does not end & everything continues as it was before - i'll have a heck of a time trying to catch up on all the stuff (cleaning, big and little jobs both at home and at the office, that i don't particularly like), which i've been putting off with the excuse that if the world is going to end - there are a lot of things much more important to do

Lotti, You just reminded me that I have not been giving my pursuit of a treadle sewing machine proper attention lately. Now the end of the world is coming and whatever will I do? I am similarly set for the end, but it looks like I am going to have to do hand piecing.

A great way to increase your hand sewing speeds

Actually shouldn't it be the cause of a great big party, the same way we had an end of a millenium new year's eve party back in 2000, bacause that is what is really happening right? the mayan's are changing from one century (sic) to the next...

Sounds like a plan to me. It's my birthday and since it's the last one I will do what I love best. No, actually, my birthday is the 21st so if it comes I'll have extra cause for celebration. You'll find me in the sewing room. Sure hope I won't be sorry about having delayed my search for the treadle machine. I'll be quilting finishing up my Christmas gifts.

Happy Birthday, Lois! I hope we all get the chance to celebrate with you! I plan to spend that day working, doing laundry and packing the car for my drive to KC the next day. If I didn't have to leave the next day, I'd celebrate by sewing with you in spirit! Instead, I'll just think about you sewing.

Have fun!
