Yes, you have to seam the border to the correct length. I used a straight seam. Do a Bias seam if you prefer.

It's finally done!!! I have posted a picture in Show & Tell, but it's not the greatest. I also posted a couple of other pictures in my profile - personal pictures to show you how heavily I quilted this piece, both backgrounds, borders and in the applique. I decided to challenge myself as a newer longarmer (I've had a longarm since July 2008). It was a lot of work but rewarding!
