Hi I am new to hand applique so at the end of October I took the plunge and down loaded the BOM designs. Admit that I bought material for the block background and borders but am trying to use my stash for the rest. So far I am working on the April block and making the flowers. I have made one finished machine button hole applique quilt and have a machine applique top ready for borders. Love all the blocks you members have posted and the wonderful quilts that are finished. I usually just lurk but this is the first project I have attempted. Thanks for the BOMs and great directions Susan and this is also the first time I have responded to a forum so if this is not the right place. sorry.

Welcome MA!! If you've been lurking for a while, I hope you've found my Webshots web page. I've posted some instructions with photos for beginning appliquiers that you might find helpful. It's always available from my profile page. I hope you will post some photos of your blocks!

ALL OF THE BOM'S IN SHOW AND TELL ARE BEAUTIFUL. I HAVE ALL OF MY BLOCKS DONE AND I AM NOW PUTTING THEM TOGETHER. I HAVE 3 BLOCKS QUILTED AND PUT TOGETHER. I HAVE POSTED SOME OF MY BLOCKS IN MY PROFILE (WITH THE HELP OF MY SON-IN-LAW) BUT I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO POST THEM IN SHOW AND TELL. JIMMIE (MIMI62)

Hi Mimi!
Here are some step by step directions to help you post your photos. If you know where your photos are stored on your computer, you should be able to make this work!
Click on SHOW & TELL (on the top purple bar)
Click on SHOW BOM ONLY (in red on the upper right side)
Scroll to the second set of photos: “Bouquets for a New Day”
Click SUBMIT ENTRY (at the bottom left under the picture of the 2008 BOM)
Select the MONTH you are submitting from the drop down menu (this will make the search function work to sort by the month!)
Enter a Title (you can type the month here)
Enter a Description of Entry (maybe the technique you used, or special info about your block?)
Click SUBMIT (at the bottom right under the text box) which will take you to a new page.
Click UPLOAD PHOTO
Click BROWSE. (You will need to know where your picture is stored on your computer and navigate to it from this box. I keep all of mine in MY PICTURES in a file labeled 2008 BOM, so they are easy for me to find!)
Click on the file you want, then click on OPEN (at the bottom right of the box)
Your chosen photo should show up on the TQS screen
Click UPLOAD PHOTO (bottom right of the screen)
Finally click SUBMIT.
Now you can go back to the SHOW & TELL page and click VIEW ENTRIES and your photo should be visible at the top left of the page of photos!
GOOD JOB!

When you are looking at the pop-up box showing your photo files, click on the one you want to use to select it. There should be a box on the lower right of THAT box that says "OPEN". Be sure to click that. Your screen should take you back to the TQS screen where your photo should show up.

I posted my finished top. What fun this was!!!Now I just have to figure out how to quilt it. I'm going to hand quilt it - probably with cross-hatching in the background or maybe diagonal lines. I haven't decided on the 2009 yet. I'll probably do it because I will miss all the people I have come to "know" during this past year.

Dear Barbara- I have been thinking for a long time that I wanted to do something other than the triangle border. I was leaning toward an applique border with a mixture of the flowers from the center of the quilt or perhaps doing swags of some type with a flower at the joinings of the swags and in the corners. I must say that viewing your finished quilt top has given me the thought that perhaps I'll do a solid border of one of the printfabrics from the blocks. I really like how yours looks. That dark red border just sets off the blocks and frames them to a tee! Terrific idea and thanks for reminding me that sometimes less is more appropriate.Sally in soggy NE Ohio

Barbara, your finished top looks great! That print border sets it off perfectly! Have fun quilting it, and look forward to seeing what the 2009 BOM brings us!
