    Virginia,
I also love the variation of color in your block - it is lovely!

I am very slow this month. I am usually not a procastinator - but those berries seem to be making one out of me.

But I will get it done hopefully by the first of November.

Lovely Virginia. Love your vase! And yes, I too, use Sharon Schamber method, but have not used her foundation as am still using Ricky Tims which can also be left in. I might have to try a package of her 'light' when I run out.

Alright let me get so off track of the OCT BOM but in line with Polish food. Years ago when I was laid off from USAIR and went to work for United I went Christmas shopping at a local mall in Virginia but couldn't find a parking spot so drove to Dulles airport and hopped a plane to Chicago to do the shopping (this is the kind of bragging we airline people love). Anyway my girlfriend who was also laid off along the same time as was her husband had just lost her house. So I thot Chicago being the great city of neighborhoods would be a good place to fill a comfort bag with Polish food. I asked a cop on the corner of Michigan Ave (who had a broad Irish accent) to point me toward a good bus to get me to a polish neighborhood deli. Well the bus was filled with little old men and women who had a great time on the ride giving me advice where to go. My friend loved her comfort food that reminded her of her trip to Poland to visit family and I have a forever story!

Patti, what a story! My hubby is a Chicago Pole. We have been known to make a detour to the Polish neighborhood to buy their fresh kielbasa and pierogies. I was in line to pay at a small market and the teller had to switch from Polish to English in a blink when I went wide eyed when she started talking to me in Polish!

A former priest from my church used remind us of this fun fact every now and then -- even though he was extremely Irish -- Chicago has the 2nd largest Polish population in the world -- right behind Warsaw! And you ladies are right -- it translates into some wonderful eating around here! Oh yeah -- the October block -- I have all my pieces ready to applique -- finally. It's going to be in the 80's here this weekend so I technically should be doing my fall outdoor cleaning, but seeing all your beautiful blocks is really making me want to stay in! Great blocks everyone!

How beautiful are the posted blocks. I'm still working on mine. My berries were done a long time ago, but I now realize I have to make smaller ones for the flower centers!!!!! Star is done and dark green stems are next. It is a pretty block, I think.

Marge, your block is wonderful! (I'm just getting started on Oct's block) Love the little blue heart flowers. In fact looking at all of your blocks...I really like the blue accents that you have woven thoughout every block, it's going to be a lovely quilt!

                          Blessings,

Marge and Terri your blocks are great, I finally got my camera back, so I'll be sending a picture of my October block tomorrow that I finished a week ago. Internet connection is still very iffy, so need to send it either early before work, or during lunch. It's great fun to see everyone's block each month. Heidi
