Does anyone's DH play golf? It would be great if the guys could have something entertaining to do also.

I hope I am able to make the BOM party. I just finished the August block except for the embroidery which I hope to do tonight watching the Olympics. Thanks to all of you for posting so much information and ideas about getting together as well as all of your quilting techniques. I feel like this is a new friendship group! Thanks for all of your encouragement and enthusiasm.
My DH might play golf, but he also gets really skittish around quilters as he may not want to attend.

Just checked Mapquest and I am 1024.54 Miles and driving time 16 hours and 6 minutes plus stops and shop hopping.

Will depend on dates and coordinating trip with DH.

Sounds like a blast for sure!!!!!!

Well I can't wait! Woohoo! No, I don't mind if my info is posted. I would love to get together with the other South Texans for a show and tell of our BOMs. I am in Schertz just north of San Antonio.

I live 922 miles (14 hrs) from La Veta. I would be happy to car pool. Depending on when we get to go, I might even be able to talk my fiance' in flying me (and 3 or 4 others who are game) to La Veta. From his place in OKC it is only 540 miles (9 hrs by car maybe 1/2 that by plane.) Looks like they have a little airport there.

Lorna, 2 months behind but determined to catch up

I'm just having so much fun here! Margo and Bridget you both Rock!! Bridget I love the way you set up the map with photos too. I'm already imagining the road trip. I picture us all meeting up somewhere and driving into LaVeta in one long caravan with TQS BOMer's Flag (we make one) flying from each car. Can you picture it? Quilter's have great imaginations. How do you picture this trip?

Hmmmm.....I hadn't thought of the flag....I was just picturing all of us in baseball caps with the TQS star over the words BOM SQUAD!

And instead of a caravan, I think that meeting in St. Louis and taking one bus would be the way to go!!
The girls from the west can do the same thing from that side of the mountains!

Sue Garman of course. Maybe one of the blocks with the large TQS star?

St. Louis feels a bit out of the way for us down here in Texas! The caravan sounds like fun, but it's probably going to come down to practicality - such as

                          1. How much more time does it take to all meet somewhere vs
                          2. How fast can i get there so I can spend more time in La Veta?
                          3. How many days off will I have? ? for travel ? for BOM stuff

I trust we'll have it all worked out by October, so never fear..........not to worry!

DH plays golf....hasn't for years, though. Not sure if his EGO can stand playing for first time in years with total strangers! LOL

But I can visualize him strolling down the streets of LaVeta meeting all the locals and finding everyone's 'story.' He's really good at that. Since we are both from 'small town America' it will feel like coming home again!

OK...this is what Sue had to say about the flag idea!

Too funny! I’d be glad to do it – size? ideas? Applique or just ink something on a piece of fabric that attaches to… radio antenna (mine is built into the window so that wouldn’t work) or just tape roll into a back window? Obviously it will have to have the TQS star on it… and what else? Tell everyone NO CIRCLES, I PROMISE!!!!

So....what do you think? Do we need a special logo for flags/hats/teeshirts?????????????

This is just getting so exciting! I love the idea of the bus meet up. More time to get to meet and know everyone.

What about a special logo so we can do different things. I like the idea of a flag and hat and tee shirt. Maybe tote to carry BOM quilt in.
