I am a teacher and didn't have time to start the BOMs until after school got out in mid June. Well, I'm hooked! I started with January doing the needle turn method and my fingers are sore from quilting almost nonstop. I love these blocks! I am finishing the May block now and will put the berries on some of the other blocks that I have semi completed. I hoped to be caught up with the June, July and August block before I go back to school at the end of August.
This is a perfect project to do in hot Fallbrook weather where I can bring the block with me outside to sit in the shade. I'll post the pictures of my blocks as soon as I get the berries on. -

There have been several comments about difficulty posting photos so I thought I would try to include some directions here. I think they are right, but if anyone notices mistakes, please let me know and I'll change the directions.
The web gurus change the procedure occasionally, but I think this will work for now:
ADD PHOTOS TO YOUR TQS PROFILE
To add any photo to your TQS profile you must first get to your profile page. You can get there at any time by clicking on MY PROFILE on the purple bar at the top of any page.
There are 2 rows of photos and they are uploaded differently.
The top row is for your quilt photos. These will be added to the TQS Quilt Gallery and need to have information for the TQS search function included.
To add a new quilt in a blank spot, just click on ADD QUILT.
Scroll down to the box titled “My Quilt” and fill out all of the info boxes to the bottom of the page. Be sure to include a brief description of the quilt in the appropriate box but you need to keep it to 30 words or less.
You will be reminded if you skipped any boxes! When you get to the bottom of the page, click on SUBMIT. This will add the necessary info about the quilt.
Now you can add the picture. At the top of the page, click on UPLOAD QUILT IMAGE then click on BROWSE. A box will open that says “Choose File” at the top of the box. Navigate to the file where your photo is stored and click on the photo, then click OPEN at the bottom of the box. The location of the photo will show up in the Browse box. You then need to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on UPLOAD. It will take a few minutes to upload the photo and you can watch the progress on the bar at the bottom left side of your computer (PC) screen.
If you don’t have an empty spot for a new quilt, click EDIT QUILT under one of your existing pictures. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click DELETE QUILT PROFILE. You will be asked if you are sure you want to delete this profile; click DELETE and proceed as above.
The second row is for your personal photos.
To add a photo here you need to complete the description first, then click SUBMIT.

If you would like to see your profile the way other TQS members see it, just click on your profile picture or screen name anywhere on the site, or you can enter your screen name in the Search page in the purple bar. Only you can see it in the form that shows up when you click “My Profile”.
Please make an effort to post a profile photo of yourself and 6 quilt photos and 6 personal photos. It takes a few minutes, but it definitely makes for a much more friendly community when we know something about our members.

I have the book and DVD and am using that to sort of quilt this BOM. I am quilting it by hand but will use that method (hopefully) to assemble them together.Originally posted by mimi62

I just posted BOM Jan-June. I have been working on them, reading your comments,tips,and encouragement so I just had to join in. I am a newbie at applique although I can begin to see some improvement now and wonder if I should begin again or just enjoy the journey with all the mistakes etc. I am becoming addicted to applique!

Your blocks are wonderful Dot. I agree that there is no reason for a redo. It shows how you got better as you went and they look super anyway.

I agree Dot that part of the journey is the adventure in gaining new skills. But, if it drives ya nuts to look at it, it's ur quilt and u can redo it if ya wanna!

Dot, welcome to the BOM squad! I started the year not an applique fan, buy I am a convert now! Your blocks looks great! And they (those ubiquitous people, just like the quilt police!) say, if you can't see a mistake from a galloping horse, then no problem!

Thank you all for your encouragement. I didn't know there were so many ways to applique and have used this project as an opportunity to experiment. So far, I am liking needle turned using freezer paper/starch to prepare little pieces and also raw edge machine stitching after cutting out with steam a seam 2 on circles. Combining all these techniques may not produce the prettiest project but it is certainly a learning tool DFComment

I was fairly new to applique and decided this was my quilt to learn MACHINE applique (turned edge not raw edge) so I've given myself lots of room to improve and learn. I'm actually getting better and faster, have learned the stitches I like the best, as well as the thread I like, the machine settings, the foundation paper, all of it! Plus a little lesson here and there on color!
