Sorry.....I've never heard of using wax paper....maybe someone else has tried it and can offer some tips????

I would assume that you could use it like I used the vinyl placement overlay. Ricky uses the backing from Steam-A-Seam for the same purpose in his Rhapsody Blog #37.

I think Katzz is describing the same way my friend Donna told me for transfering a pattern to her background. She traces the reversed drawing onto FREEZER paper with a dark pen, then fuses the freezer paper to the wrong side of her background fabric. When she puts this on a light box she can then see the design clearly in the correct orientation AND the fabric is stablized so she can easily and accurately trace the background. Remove the freezer paper when you are finished tracing and you can use it again if you are doing more than one block. For a very light or white fabric you don't even have to use the lightbox if you don't want. Absolutely ingenious!!

I think the wax paper would work for that and I think it is called a "cartoon". Maybe someone else can help with that.

with waxed paper I would guess you could "scratch" the design on it, but I don't think it would work if you were needing to carry it with you to refer back to, b/c once it's folded or wrinkled you'd get lines there too. Am I making sense?

Just posted my completed January block of the month. I may be trailing behind but I will get there! Hand applique is a new technique for me and I have alot of time to put in yet for it to look like I know what I am doing. But a few quilts from now I will be able to say.... look how far I have come.
Here's a link to my blog with a picture of the beauty.... he he

Margaret, I love your january block. The vase fabric is awesome. I still haven't finished mine, but I'm working on it. I'll have to find some vase fabric that looks as good.

well officially one month behind now. I just finished my January block last night and posted it to my profile.
Hopefully February wont take me as long, now that I am getting the hang of what in the heck I am doing.

Thanks everyone. I thought I was never going to finish it. Needle turn is hard until you get more of a feel for it. But I learned some things and got faster while doing it. So hopefully I will have February done soon, and be caught up.
