It’s only the 23rd but…I need someone to share tried and true alternative ways to make circles that don’t involve turned edge appliqué (spoilers?)

Do you want circles or a ring like the photos of the circles in Game On. Turned light weight fusible interfacing is an easy
accurate machine way for circles. If you google that you can watch you tubes. Here are a couple pic. Draw the circle size
on the on nonfusible side of the interfacing; pin it to the front of the fabric. Stitch on the line with the fusible side facing down on the right side of the fabric.
Cut a slit and turn it inside out. Press to the background you are putting it on. Machine stitch the edge. HelenW

Thank you! That’s a technique I haven’t tried. I’ll have to give it a trial run. Usually I do fusible appliqué, but this may give a better finished look. The video for month 3 makes the turned edge look easy, but I’ve always struggled to get my edges smooth.

It should work fine. I was surprised to see that Becky did two circles. one on top of the other. I thought it would be a ring and a square underneath the top ring. This is easier. There are some
pressing tips for the interfacing technique. I usually work around the seam allowance with a curved
item to get the interfacing to roll to the under side. You can use parchment paper to press it flat
and still pull that off and then place it where you want. HelenW

Check out the technique from Dee's Saturday Sampler using the Mini Moons pattern by Jennifer Wagner. It's reverse appliqué done entirely by machine with no top stitching required.
