This is my first attempt at applique. I have enjoyed it so far, and have all of the center Circles and hearts done, thanks in part to the Karen Kay Buckley Perfect Circles pack. However, I'm having trouble with the tiny circles. Are there any tips/tricks anyone can give to do these? I'm using the KKB perfect circles with this one too (the smallest circle in the pack).

I have all the ‘leaves’ done and saved those little circle suckers for last. One down 47 to go. I used starch. Dont know if this will help anyone but I traced the circle onto my block then stitched on the line using tiny stitches. Worked ok for me. LorryLast edited by Lorry0; 02-03-2025, 08:21 PM.LorryO

Ok company coming and like many quilters cleaning not on my favorite things to do list, so making some of those circles is my ‘break’. Using the starch method is bit challenging but it does work. Felt like a contortionist so put my wool ironing pad on a lazy susan which made starching in a circle easier. I can only do 3 or 4 at a time then need to do something else so I have completed one full block, 11 others ready for circles. My block is not perfect but best I can do. Maybe by the time I get to block 12 I’ll have all perfect circles, ha ha! LorryLast edited by Lorry0; 02-04-2025, 11:44 AM.LorryO

Lynnanne, You could go to a hardware store with your print out of the pattern diagram and buy
a couple metal washers the same size as the circles. Use them the same technique as Karen Kay Buckley uses with her teflon washers. Just be careful when you iron the circles
not to burn you fingers taking out the metal. Let it cool. If you used a dime it would be a little
bigger but not noticeable. Do you have dimes in Italy??? HelenW

blue ribbons for making dot mandela quilts. She has a you tube channel where she has videos on Rosa's Appliquick technique.
On her website she sell the pre-made template circles that fuse on back of fabric. I know you might not be able to
buy that in Italy, but maybe some of the other ladies would like this easy way to do it. The you tube videos are worth watching.

I'm attempting to make the quilt in both color ways. The Spring one will be for my granddaughter and the other will be for me. I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up with each month's installment but I'm going to try. I already posted the second month for the Granddaughter quilt and once again I changed the appliqué to showcase the plaid for the Grandmother's quilt. The appliqué pieces are all made, I just have to machine appliqué them. One set completed and three more to go.
