Here are my month 1 blocks. It was hard to get started on the right path at first. I cut the 4" square at 4.5 as I wasn't paying attention to which FABRIC Barbara was talking about. Then when squaring up the flying geese, missed the edge of the ruler and ran over my finger and nail. The finger is healed, and nail growing so all ended well...yowza.

I wavered on this project until I remembered I had a stack of fabric from a project years ago that I never got to, and probably never will. there were a few of the browns, blacks and creams, so I only had to purchase a couple of fabrics to go with it. It might be a bit more scrappy but I am hoping the colours will still work out and give the desired effect at the end.
I have only done the "Colour my World" BOM which was great. I would have loved to have done 2024 but after falling off my bike and breaking bones that was the end of that, so I am really enthusiastic now about this year.

I am using most of my own fabric and have created a color chart. Now that I have that figured out, I will begin to work on my blocks for this month. I hope everyone had a great day!

That is a great chart. And easily allows you to add some additional fabrics throughout the year should you find others you like and want to add.

Monique, I like how you make the star points show up as a star and the 4 patch look like a 4 patch. I might do the same when I start mine. I always love the fabrics you use in your quilts. HelenW

My greatest progress this month was creating my own flying geese rule since I could not order the Bloc Loc, I used multiple layers of tape to create ridges and placed them accordingly. Works like a charm!

I need to do this as I had trouble with squaring the FG up to that odd size. No one has the bloc loc ruler and I'm not sure I want to pay that much for that small ruler that I may never use again. I had already cut my fabric as directed then tried squaring them up with my paper piecing paper that I printed out but that didn't work well.
                    Thanks for the suggestion.

So many pretty blocks from everyone I finally got started on mine today and I'll be sewing them together tomorrow. I kept thinking I had plenty of time this month and then realized we're in the last week of January!
