I found a couple collections at Marcus fabrics that I would really like to use for this quilt. Problem is they
don't come out until later in the spring. So right now I am making a couple sample blocks to try Lynn
and Barbara's techniques but won't actually begin until about June. So I plan to do Dee's Kona Cotton BOM
in the mean time. Here are a couple pics of the fabrics I plan to use for Laurel Ridge. HelenW

Lynnanne, So nice to have you back on the forum, it has been a while. Are you doing Laurel Ridge?
I plan to do the Kona Cotton BOM with Dee Christopher (Live) while waiting for the Marcus collections that
I want to use to be manufactured. I am doing the 18 inch blocks in Kona Cotton as 6 inch blocks.
Don't need another larger quilt. Should be fun. Just using stash scraps not Kona Cotton. Are you still in Italy? HelenW

Well I finished on day 5 - somehow I made twice as many as requested!.
I guess I mis-read something. Once I discovered my mistake I decided that I'd go ahead and finish them - hoping that I could substitute the extras for other places in the quilt. It looks like that might work out.
I'm happy to put it away for awhile while I quilt my "Rugged Coast" quilt. (A bit more my normal style)

Thank you all for sharing, I enjoy looking at everyone's work.

I have only used this technique to block blocks for a group project, it is very accurate, but I always feel like I’m providing an Acupuncture treatment!

I plan to use fabrics from my stash, going for a scrappy look. I have not yet managed to finish a BOM within the planned timeframe, but that does not mean I do not plan to finish the quilt. Let's see how long I can keep up for this one

Good idea Helen to make a small quilt! I did both Color My World and Homeward Bound 60 and 50% smaller. I’m trying to do this new BOM in the original size because I want to make a bedspread. Yes, I’m still in Italy and am using fabrics I already have and some that I was able to find here. Lynn

Month 1 blocks done! I love the various golds in the Grandmother quilt, but will be using batiks with a summer feel. And there will be flamingos.

                  My first month finished!
I may go back and iron the last 2 seams open to flatten more. Some of the seam intersections are very bulky.

I finally got around to getting my blocks sewn. I'm sending a photo of my fabrics using the number of fabrics needed for the granddaughter spring version. I'm not thrilled with how the color came out as I took the photo in a room without a daylight bulb. Now that I've pulled some out, I can't get them lined up good enough to take another photo in another room. They are in the order they are listed on the fabric requirements page of the instructions. I tried to send my photo of both blocks, but I had to crop the original photo as it wasn't showing both of them on my screen. Now I have 2 photos, 1 of each block. Unless, of course, both blocks show up on the first photo once I click send on this comment! I am using batik fabrics - some from my stash and some I bought new.

Month 1 completed. Thank you so much for all the tips and tricks from Lynne and Barbara. A goal for me this year is to work on my precision. I am using the thread suggested (Quilters Select for top and bottom. My fabric is a pull from my stash and is various Tilda fabrics.
