Lots of bias stems, anxiously awaiting next month's pattern. I have Karen Kay Buckley's "Perfect Stems", so used those templates. Plus, another little use for a pool noodle!
Last edited by Marilyn M.; 01-31-2023, 01:27 AM. Reason: Colour problem. The lighter stems are not mustard colour, as indicated in the photo. They are really a bright apple green. .

Confession....I'm not very good with BOMs and usually give up around month 4 or 5. But I've been in a quilt depression for the last year and I'm hoping this challenge will help me get out of it. My house turned out smaller than needed, but instead of doing another one, I just added a white border and then had to do some adding on the boarder too, to get the 6 1/2 in square. I made my own stems and it felt good to set last night and do some hand applique.

Hi Deb - I've been in a quilt depression too and that is EXACTLY why I joined the BOM. I thought at least we're all in this together!! Love your start!!

Deb, I think you will find this BOM interesting throughout the year and not too overwhelming in any particular month. Great solution to a smallish cabin.

Here is my month one center block house. Although I drafted an FPP pattern, I decided to do freezer paper prepared edge machine applique instead. This made my background seamless. I also did mitered corners for my border!

The BOM fabric pack was sold out when I signed up, so I put my own together with the same fabrics and decided to use Tula Pinks Fairy Dust in Cotton Candy for my background and intend to add a bit more Tula here and there as we go. Scrolling through everyone's photos for this block I'm amazed at the diversity and can't wait to see how they all turn out!

I finally made it in! I'm so glad. I sent this pic to me in gmail, so its not so clear, but it's on. I decided to sew mine on my fabulous B790+. So I have sewed the Blanket stitch on my vines. But I'm hoping I can do some fancy stitching around my blooms. Blanket stitch works good on bigger ones, but I'd like to try like a Satin stitch in scalloped shape for example. What do you think Barbara? Can I do that? They are small. But I'd think as long as I keep the designs going smaller too, it should work?

Try a practice few on a scrap piece to see how you like the look. Your machine will do wonderful things so experiment to find your personal preferences. Looking good!

I think I'm satisfied with these dots. I kept finding more textures & values so kept changing. But I like these. I only have a few left to finish all 4 blocks.

I chose to do a wool applique house on a needle turned landscape with a machine appliquéd sun. My bias strips are 3/8” and were made on an electric Simplicity bias tape maker. My goal is to use stash and supplies that I have on hand. I'm working to catch up!
