I have a set of envelopes labeled for each piece that I cut. Such as roof, door etc. I just cut one house at a time and then I can use the envelopes again for the next house. I was having trouble remembering which piece was what and this helped me. If you wanted to cut more than a house at a time you could make more than one set of envelopes.

I also took note of Barbara's notebook idea! I bought inexpensive rectangular "leftover boxes" (in the groc. aisle by the foil/baggies/etc.) - i have one each, and labeled for doors/house/window/roof/left and right backgrounds.

Is the "cream" fabric that little strip of what I would call "white"? It's very narrow.

If you are talking about the Kit, the cream is ONLY for the Inner and Outer Roads. Do not use it for any buildings.

Look at this post, including the picture (sideways). https://thequiltshow.com/forum/bom-2021-color-my-world/9422-looking-for-tips-for-organizing-color-my-world?start=14#153306

That is how I use it. I cut the pieces and label them with size, number required and the piece identifier - a, b, c . .
              Helps when piecing.

Hope this was what you were asking.

Msfees - I used 8 batting blocks and built my houses as I was cutting, then u just take the batting block to the machine and sew.

I wanted to buy my fabrics locally as living in Australia the Kit was out of the question.
First I did the math and worked out that pre-cut fat quarters should do the trick. One 5 1/2 inch strip across the fat quarter will give all the pieces for one house.
It was easier to buy 2 12packs of Moda colours, one pastel and one brights, then gathering up 24 bolts of fabric to get 30cm strips cut.
I also had 10 colour left over from a jelly roll that would do for the walls, doors and windows.
I separated the colours for the mariners Compass, roads and trees, then cut one set of doors, walls, windows etc our of each available colour. Adding extra roofs from the flat quarters when I got to the jelly roll colours.
I put the piles of each on the table then picked the pieces, one from each pile for the 16 houses. This way I made sure there was no 2 houses the same.
Obviously some have the same colours some where as I tried to be aware of my colour wheel.
Each house was then put into a small plastic bag to keep the selected pieces together and I went through making them one by one. I still have 9 bags of the cut house pieces to use for houses 3 & 4 and then will chose colour combinations for the remaining 7 houses ensuring there is no 2 the same.
The bags have been kept for the next lot of blocks. The completed blocks are on my display wall, with the final choice of colour positions to be done once all the blocks are made.
