I now have completed all my appliqué blocks. Two I did raw edge appliqué with double blanket stitch. Thank you Alex for telling us about the hover feature on the Bernina. I did not know about it. What a great feature. The other two I used the Appliquik method and hand appliquéd them. I like the result of the hand done blocks better. After soaking the machined ones, I found they puckered bit. Is there a reason for this happening?

Freda, love your blocks. Don’t know why there was puckering, I didn’t have that issue.

Freda, Your blocks look great. Can't see the puckers in the pictures. Did you pre-wash to shrink your fabrics before using them? That could cause
the background to shrink a little. Also, I always use a tear away stabilizer to prevent puckers both on the machine raw edge and on glue edge turn
and machine stitched. Did you soak both the hand applique and the machine appliqué? I know my samples just did not look as good after soaking them.
That is why I decided to go with raw edge and double blanket stitch. Did not have to soak them. HelenW

I guess the puckering was on fabric I hadn’t washed

I like the method of applique by machine used by Janet Stone with her A to Z with Ewe and Me.
These are raw edge with double blanket stitch using Sulky Embroidery thread. Takes a while, but I like the look.
