    Free printable HST grids

Searched on the internet and found free printable HST grids, in the sizes required for April blocks 10 and 11. This is going make those HSTs much easier for me ( !!) and thought I should mention the availability of those grids. Not sure if it is permissable for me to include the site where I found them ......don't want to break any rules!! However, I found I had some of Ricky Tim's "Stable Stuff" in my cupboards and used that to print the grids.......ordinary copy paper would probably do. Hope this helps someone else?

It's OK to post the link you found. I draw the grid directly on the back of my fabric but you could use paper instead. You just have to use a very small stitch if sewing on the paper.

      Hello Barbara,
Many thanks for your response and advices re posting link. The site I used for my printable HST grid was "Generations Quilt Patterns" and the link follows:
      https://www.generations-quilt-patterns.com/half-square-triangle-paper.html
I didn't trust myself to draw up my own grid, so these printable papers were handy for me.

They are a 7/8" grid so you need to sew on those lines very carefully, no room for "variation on a seam". And use tiny stitches as is needed for paper piecing.

And if you are planning on leaving the stabilizer in the quilt, you might want to test whether the printer ink runs when it gets wet. I made some pillows using Ricky Tims Stable Stuff for the paper-piecing, leaving in the stabilizer, and when the fabric got wet the printer ink ran all over the white fabric. I've heard you should print as light as you can to use as little ink as possible and I heard somewhere that if you can print using only the cyan ink you should do that because that ink doesn't stain for some reason. I can't vouch for that last statement.

Wow, Nancy, thanks for the heads up on printer ink. Who knew! And the reaction with stabilizer.

7/8" grid? Not sure what you mean by that Barbara.

The grid is drawn 7/8" larger than the finished size of the half square triangles. While this is mathematically correct, it requires perfect sewing with quality thread, precise cutting and perfect pressing. My grid is drawn 1" larger than the finished size of the HST, allowing a little leeway for human error.
