    2 1/2" vs. 2 3/4" halved squares

Perhaps I missed something in the instructions, but how do you determine when/where to use the fabric A 2 1/2" triangles (halved squares) vs. the 2 3/4" inch ones? Probably a very simple answer that I'm simply missing.

The larger halved squares are used to surround the center-there are 8 of them. The others are the feathers. I kept the larger ones in a baggie so I didn't mix them up. Not yet done with the first month, though.

I just picked out all the units that required the larger triangles (eight around the center) and paper pieced those units first; that way I did not have to worry about whether I would accidentally place a smaller or larger white triangle in the wrong place.
