Sharon your quilt is beautiful! Love your Rose of Sharon.. perfect for you.
I changed a few of my blocks as well and that required rearranging. UGH. I could never be a pattern maker. I'm behind you, still working on stitching appliques down on borders.

I'm finished WOO-HOO!! I posted pictures to the BOM area but I am still somewhat confused with the new site about where we are supposed to be posting things. So how about here too?

I included the lower-case letters in the quilting for the blue borders; that was really fun. I used Superior Fantastico variegated thread for circles and spirals in border and sashing. The blocks use Superior Mono-poly; the border stippling uses a matching Isacord; the applique and top-stitching of applique use the Superior Magnifico thread kit.

This was my first attempt with quilt-as-you-go, and it definitely involved a learning curve for me. QAYG uses more backing fabric, it seems, because I had to cut it bigger for each block so that I had something to hold onto when quilting. So then I didn't have quite enough backing for underneath the polka-dot borders; my solution was to use the polka-dot fabric on the back as well, but that meant 2-inch wide, instead of 3-inch wide. I elected to QAYG the blue borders as well, and that led to problems with the seams and the applique work. I should have limited QAYG to the blocks and then attached the borders all the way out to the edge - the backing and batting would then have been added, and I would have done all that quilting but at least it would have been borders only. It's okay and I still love it, though.

And my husband loves it, too - has already napped, all wrapped up in it. Makes me feel so good.

Now I can move onto Lynette's quilt with a (mostly) clear conscience!
