    Elmer's School Glue -

In show 1404, you mentioned Margo's method to alter the glue bottle. I've looked in Margo's classes, but there is no mention of which segment features this information. I also checked the multiple links in the 1401 show information, but didn't see the link there. Did I miss the link? Looking forward to getting all these tools on hand. Thanks!

Thanks a million! This is my first BOM. Just caught the 1401 show and fell in love with the quilt. Bought and received the kit and am trying to gather all I need. This blog is very useful (caught up on all the entries yesterday) . . . everyone is so helplful. My next challenge is the fusible. Meanwhile I am cutting for the piecing.
      Thanks again!

I bought a bottle of school glue from Hobbycraft their own brand. I just hope it is OK on fabric but as I am using such a tiny dot I think it will be OK.

To put just a dot onto the fabric I use a wooden toothpick and dip it onto the top of the bottle as the bottle does not have a top like Elmers.

Elmers is too expensive to buy here as the postage costs more than the glue and I can only get it from Amazon.

Just make sure it is washable - like school glue should be. I would try it on a small scrap and wash it before using it on a "big" project... Just saying....

Thanks for posting the link, Andrée. And your advice to pretest to make sure that it washes out is spot on!!

                Hi,
I put some of the Hobbycraft school glue onto some fabric stuck another piece on top then ironed it till it was dry....left it overnight then washed it this morning and it all seems to have come out I've ironed the scrap of fabric and I don't see any problems. But don't take my word for it.
As I will only be using a tiny dot to keep edges together on any triangles on future B O M blocks I shall continue to use it sparingly.

Anne I got some off Amazon at £2.49 including postage but if your glue works then that's fine

                    Thanks Wendy,
I found it on Amazon....I will use up the glue I have. I'm only using a spot of it to hold corners of triangles together.
I have tested the glue and it seems to be OK.
I hope you are having nice weather and that the chickens are warm, roll on the spring and to be able to get out into the garden to tidy up.

It's been better last few days but I've been on quilting workshops now back to work

Girls are fine and have stayed dry in all the deluges. Have you been affected Anne?

We have been very lucky here in Woking and haven't been flooded...lots of rain and very high winds.
I feel so sorry for all those that have been affected by the terrible weather the UK has been having, let's hope that it has ended now....fingers crossed.

It certainly feels better and all seems calm. The weather extremes seem to have affected our friends across the pond as much. Change in the gulf stream I guess.

On this side of the pond they are calling it a "Polar Vortex" The cold is starting again with temps. below freezing and the wind chills worse. Hopefully this time we won't get so much snow/ice. And this past Saturday it was up to 70 F, sunny, beautiful. (I am in southeast Missouri, USA.) The weather is crazy. Hope all are safe and warm.

Yes, that Polar Vortex is pushed South from the mild temperature in the Pacific going north. It's going to be milder in Alaska than here in Laval (Montréal) or even in New York City.
If that "Polar Vortex" could just stay home...
