    pressing the blocks

I am concerned about pressing the blocks after I have done the blanket stitch around the letters. Will the heat damage the Magnifico, or any Poly embroidery thread?

I love this project. Love the directions, so simple and easy to understand. This is the best piecing I have done. Had to learn how to do the blanket stitch but have been wanting to do it for a long time. Also, this is the first time I have used starch and do like it!

Thanks Janet Stone - from Janet in Missouri

Hi Janet in Missouri! I have never had an issue pressing a block with blanket stitched applique on it. I don't use the highest setting on my iron, just the cotton setting, and I rarely use steam. I'm so glad to hear you are enjoying the pattern!

Janet, if you are worried, then press the blocks before you do the blanket stitching and then press around the blanket stitching and not actually directly on it when you are done. I used Superior Rainbows thread for mine, with the iron on a cotton setting and it was fine.

Or you could use a pressing cloth - an odd scrap of muslin works well - if you have any

Thanks I feel more at ease now about the pressing. I love the look of the poly thread and did not want to switch to cotton.

I will probably press from the back when possible, and use a press cloth when pressing on the right side. Lots of muslin from doll making.
